That was a chance for Vinicius to slot through Bale, who had found some space down the left side. But the pass from the Brazilian was a little strong and dribbles through to Ter Stegen.

Great save from Courtois! Rakitic plays a pass through the middle, with Suarez set up for the shot just inside the box. The flag was up for offside, but Courtois makes a stunning diving save to keep Barca out anyway.

Real Madrid will surely be pleased with the start they have made to this match, but they were the better team on Wednesday night and still managed to lose that goal 3-0 in front of their own fans.
