That's the first real scoring chance that Real Madrid have created. They are cranking things up and are now camped on the edge of the Girona penalty area as they search for the opener.

It's been a decent start to the match by Marcelo. The Brazilian left back looks determined to turn in a good performance after what has been a difficult spell for him.

It's difficult to overstate the impact that Vinicius has made at Real Madrid in a very short space of time. They have become reliant on the teenager. Can they do without him here?

Vinicius had started 12 games in a row for Real Madrid before this match. On the early evidence, the European champions are missing the drive of the Brazilian winger down the left.

Odriozola takes Real Madrid about 40 yards up the pitch down the right wing. The young full back has been excellent since making the move from Real Sociedad in the summer.

Marcelo is also back in the Real Madrid team for this game. The Brazilian has lost his place in the side to Reguilon in recent weeks, so this is a chance for him to remind us all of his quality.

This is a big chance for Asensio. The youngster has struggled to make an impression for Real Madrid this season, but Solari has placed his faith in the attacker for this game here.

There was a brief break in play there as Courtois received some treatment on his nose after saving that effort from Stuani with his face. He's back up and play continues now, though.

Real Madrid claimed an away win over Ajax in the Champions League during the week. Things have been looking up for the European champions over the past few weeks. In form.
