There's a real edge to this match now. The rain continues to fall and that is making the playing surface very difficult for both teams, and even more so for both goalkeepers.

So what do Alaves have left in the tank? They haven't played poorly, but now find themselves behind... so will the home side now come out of their shell and attack Real Madrid?

Rodrygo and Vinicius are on the bench for Real Madrid. Those two players must be on Zidane's mind at the start of this second half. The away side need something different in attack.

Indeed, one wonders how long Zidane will wait to throw Valverde on. He has become a crucial figure for Real Madrid this season. They are missing him in the centre of the pitch.

Alaves did a good job of containing Real Madrid in the opening 45 minutes, but now they will surely want to create more scoring opportunities on their own in this second half.

Kroos was one of those players who looked to be finished at Real Madrid at the end of last season. However, just like Marcelo and Modric he has come back this season refreshed.
