It might have been offside, but that finish from Griezmann was very cool. He knew he was offside and didn't celebrate, but the finish from the Frenchman on the volley was great.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... NO! That's the second goal Barcelona have had chalked off for offside. Griezmann put the ball in the back of the net, but play is called back by the officials.

Alena has made a difference for Barcelona in the centre of the pitch this afternoon. The youngster has been positive and has made to look something happen every time he's on the ball.

Barcelona have started the second half as they ended the first - on top. This already feels like a mission of damage limitation for Alaves, who have faded badly over the match.

Valverde will surely want his Barcelona team to score at least a couple more in this second half to blow away those accusations of conservatism. It would be a real statement of intent.

HALF TIME: Barcelona 2-0 Alaves. The Catalans are in control of this match, with the second goal from Vidal giving them a real cushion. The points look to be as good as in the bag already.

Messi played the pass to Suarez on the edge of the box with Vidal then set up for the strike and the Chilean midfielder smashed a driven finish past Pacheco and into the far corner of the Alaves net!

Barcelona have stepped things up again in the last 10 minutes or so. They had fallen into something of a lull, but Alaves are hanging on a bit here. They need the half time break.

That last scoring opportunity was an illustration of what Griezmann offers Barcelona. They hit out with great pace on the counter attack. They went from one box to the other in seconds.

Pique was actually on the scene, but didn't want to steal Messi's goal and ultimately the Barcelona centre back should have been greedy. That would have been an exceptional goal.

So close to a second! That would have been a stunning second goal by Barcelona with Messi set up by a backheel from Griezmann, but the ball dribbles right across the line and wide of the far post!

Good idea! The diagonal pass was played over the top by Roberto, Griezmann then played a cushion-pass on the volley, but Suarez couldn't quite stretch far enough to make a connection.

Real Madrid don't play Athletic Club until tomorrow and so this is a chance for Barcelona to open up a three-point gap at the top of the table to apply some pressure on their rivals.
