This has been a lot better from Atletico Madrid at the start of the second half. They have upped their intensity and they are playing with a lot more pace when moving into the final third.

A scorcher from Saul! That couldn't have been far away. That's the closest Atleti have come to finding the back of the net. Saul let rip from 20 yards out, but his effort flashes wide of the far post.

Morata has been on the end of some rough treatment from Real Valladolid this afternoon. The Atletico Madrid striker is the only one willing to drive the ball forward.

Koke tries to play a diagonal pass from deep for Trippier down the right side, but he gets it all wrong and the ball drifts harmlessly out of play for a throw in. It's been that sort of game.

If this was a test of whether Costa, Felix and Morata could play together as a front three then the outcome hasn't been especially successful so far. Atletico Madrid have barely had a sniff.

Costa heads over! It was always going to be difficult for the former Chelsea striker to get that header on target. Costa gets on the end of a corner kick, but his header loops up and over.

There is no urgency at all to Atletico Madrid's play. They win a corner kick and then take at least 30 seconds to actually take it. This has been very strange from Simeone's side.
