Atletico Madrid suffer their first league defeat of the season while Real Madrid make it three wins from their last three games, easing the pressure on Zidane. The hosts deserved their win. Atleti were poor. The second half changes improved them, but it was too late by then. Simeone will reflect on what he got wrong and how it cost his side.

Vazquez denied! That could have been a third Real Madrid goal, with Benzema feeding Vazquez on the overlap. His shot was a good one, but Oblak made the strong save at his near post.

On comes Valverde for Modric, who was exceptional tonight.

Lodi has made a big difference for Atletico Madrid since coming on at the half time interval. He gives his side some width and an outlet down the wing that they were previously lacking.

LEMAR... over! The Frenchman dribbles past three Real Madrid players and gets the shot away from the edge of the box, but his effort flashes over the crossbar. Courtois tipped it over!

Real Madrid press Atletico Madrid and force them all the way back to Oblak. They are so good at that, but the away side are ramping up the tempo of their play. Late fightback?

This is better from Atletico Madrid. They are enjoying some pressure towards the end of this match, but it is surely too little too late from Simeone's side. Too much for them to do.

Big save from Courtois! Atletico Madrid probably should have given themselves a lifeline there. Saul got the header on target from the Lodi cross, but Courtois made the save to deny him.

A second change from Zidane sees Rodrygo introduced off the bench.

On comes Asensio for the final 10 minutes of the match.

It looks like Zidane might be about to make some changes. Real Madrid have a tricky mid-week game against Athletic Club during the week. A lot of fixtures on the horizon.

It certainly feels like Zidane made the wrong call by taking off Felix when he did. Suarez endured a poor game. Atletico Madrid failed to give himself any sort of service up front.

Kondogbia comes on for Atletico Madrid. He replaces Suarez for the final 15 minutes.
