Zidane will be pleased with what he has seen from his Real Madrid team in this first half so far. The home side are in control of the game. Atletico Madrid are offering very little.

Zidane looked to be close to the brink after the Champions League defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk, but the Frenchman has used that shock defeat as a catalyst. Real Madrid look much better.

A big part of the problem for Atletico Madrid is they have made so little of their time on the ball. They are seeing so little possession that they are rushing things when they win it back.

It's just not happening for Atletico Madrid at the moment. They are being overwhelmed in the centre of the pitch. Might Simeone have to make a change to his team and his strategy?

Simeone must find a way to get Felix into the game. Atletico Madrid just haven't worked the ball high enough up the pitch to get the Portuguese youngster involved. That has to change.

This week was one of the most important in Zidane's career as Real Madrid manager. First, Real Madrid beat Sevilla. Then they beat Gladbach. Now they are on course for a derby win.

Kroos and Modric are controlling this game at the moment. Atletico Madrid's game plan isn't really working. They are sitting deep, but haven't caused many problems on the break.

The Atletico Madrid bench aren't very happy. They believe Modric should have been shown a yellow card for a tackle on Felix and the replays prove they might have a point.

This is the first time Atletico Madrid have been behind in the league this season. That just shows how impressive they have been. They have the look of title contenders.

It was poor defending from Atletico Madrid for the goal. They allowed Casemiro to have a free header inside the penalty area. Replays show it was Savic who lost his man.

That's just the third goal Atletico Madrid have conceded in La Liga this season. The visitors will have to come out and play a bit more here. They have been very deep and defensive.
