REPORT: PSG EXTEND LIGUE 1 LEAD WITH CLINICAL DISPLAY
PSG moved four points clear at the top of Ligue 1 with a captivating 5-2 victory over third-placed Monaco, who had opportunities to hold the league leaders but fell to a second-half blitz.
The Parisians have certainly laid down a marker to Newcastle United who travel to PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday, as the hosts here put on a clinic in ruthlessness against a determined and talented Monaco.
Leading 2-1 thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s penalty and Goncalo Ramos’ opener, PSG killed the game with a deadly double inside two minutes from Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha.
Monaco were good value for their two goals and kept the game a contest throughout most of the night, but ultimately just ran out of steam having played a high-energy press from the first minute.
Takumi Minamino was their standout and netted a deserved equaliser in the first-half, while Folarin Balogun was restored to the starting team and grabbed a consolation goal after Vitinha hit PSG’s fourth.

FULL-TIME: PSG 5-2 MONACO
And that's all she wrote! It's a scoreline that doesn't do justice to a spirited Monaco effort, but ultimately one side took their chances in this contest and the other lost 5-2.

GOAL! PSG 5-2 MONACO (KOLO MUANI)
That's harsh on Monaco but Maripan failed to clear and Kolo Muani makes no mistake.

IT'S NEARLY 5!
Ugarte rode three challengers there with Monaco unable to prevent him driving into their box, but eventually Kohn is out to snuff out the danger.

COMES TO NOTHING
But if you've been paying any attention in the last few minutes, you know how the ball intended for Akliouche panned out.

LAST CHANCE SALOON
This really is the game for Monaco, they win a free-kick 40 yards out.

SIX MINUTES OF ADDED TIME
Zakaria really needed to bury that to give his side any chance.

THE MOMENT PASSES
Monaco have had two central free headers from corners in this game and missed both, this time Zakaria's effort bounces wide.

DANGEROUS GAME
Monaco are playing with fire here, they're pressing so high up the pitch but PSG just need one pass to open up a goal-scoring opportunity. Kolo Muani can't gather the latest long ball forwards though.

SUBS WORKING
Those changes have really livened Monaco up, Akliouche and Ben Yeddar are combining so well with Golovin and Balogun. But they just can't find the killer blow.

COMES TO NOTHING
Monaco can't threaten from that free kick, and now here come PSG...

NOT OVER YET?
Just when you thought it was safe to take a breath... This game has certainly lived up to the hype, three goals in four minutes this second half still leaves PSG sitting pretty but put nothing past Monaco.
They've just won a free kick about 35 yards out from Donnarumma's goal as their joint-top scorer this season trots on.
