Immediate riposte from the visiting side. Distin finds Yakubu down the left channel and the Nigerian clips a ball to the near post that Tim Cahill rises to meet and head past a helpless Gilks.

It may be very early to say this but they look purposeful without a goal threat. Adam is their top scorer with three league goals all of which has come from the penalty spot.

The Tangerines continue to retain the ball well down the right but Adam gets under a clipped ball forward and it skews off. Everton go long for Yakubu and the ball fortuitously comes off the Nigerian to Cahill who absolutely leathers the ball high and wide.

Blackpool play it from the back early on but Adam is caught dithering in the middle by Heitinga - incredibly robust challenge there from the Dutchman to set the tone, perhaps.

Expect Blackpool to try to find the net early as their visitors have lost all three PL matches this season when they have conceded the opening goal. They last avoided defeat after conceding first when they won 2-1 at home against Fulham on April 25.

But that could prove a tall order against a club that have won 14, drawn ten and lost five of their 29 PL matches in 2010, picking up 52 points in total – only Chelsea (66), Manchester United (62) and Arsenal (54) have won more PL points this year than David Moyes’ side.

Having secured a top-flight home victory for the first time since 1971 on Monday night, the Tangerines will be looking for back-to-back top flight victories for the first time in 44 years. They failed to win consecutive matches in their previous top flight seasons in 1970-71. This last occurred when they won 3-1 at Tottenham (October 15, 1966) and 6-0 at home against Newcastle United (October 22, 1966).
