First chance of the game falls to Fuller. Ball into the box is chested down by Jones into the path of his strike pasrtner Fuller, who hits a hard drive first time before being blocked crucially by the Blackpool defence. That shot was heading to the bottom corner.

Stoke and Blackpool's best years coincided with Matthews, who made a combined 701 league appearances for the two clubs between 1932 and 1965. This is their first top-flight meeting since 1971.
