Villa counter quickly down the left through Agbonlahor, but his cross aiming for Benteke is headed behind.

Bit of treatment required for both sides after Kenwyne Jones and Baker clash heads. They both should be fine.

Delph loves a shot, and as if to prove the point he drives forward from midfield and fires one towards goal, but it goes just wide of the near post.
8'
Cardiff go close - a free-kick from deep goes to the far post from Noone, it's headed back into the danger area but Guzan gets there just ahead of Mutch.
7'
Baker nearly gets his head to the corner, then it breaks out to the right with Albrighton who finds Baker again, but his header goes over this time.
6'
Albrighton dances around John far too easily on the Villa right. His cross is a bit deep, but Bennett manages to win a corner on the far side.
5'
Delph is limping a little after a rather robust challenge from Mutch. He should be OK to continue, though.
4'
Theophile-Catherine gets himself into a minor pickle on the right, but just manages to dig out a clearance.
3'
Westwood tries to bring the ball through the midfield, but Noone ghosts in and barges him off the ball. No free-kick given.
2'
A ropey touch from Turner just outside his own half nearly gets him into some trouble, but he does well to win a throw in the end.

And Villa get us underway.

The captains are tossing up - it was Cardiff skipper Steven Caulker that actually tossed the coin. Don't the refs usually do that?
19:40
The teams are making their way out onto the pitch, and the referee has just picked the ball up from the little plinth thing. It's on. Oh yes, it's on.
19:33
Fancy a stat? In Aston Villa’s last 11 Premier League away games they have either conceded exactly two goals (seven times) or kept a clean sheet (four times).
19:30
Paul Lambert says Ron Vlaar's presence in the team was 'touch and go'.
19:22
And now here's Paul Lambert: "There are two ways to look at it - (the situation) will either take you under, or you thrive on the challenge. It's the same as last year. You either meet it head-on or it takes you under. We came through last year when we were in a worse position than now, so we will come through this one. If you look at it everybody is capable of beating everybody else, with one win taking you up the table, one defeat dropping you down. That is the way it is at the moment."
19:17
Let's see what the managers have been saying. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer first up: "We are striving for continued improvement, to develop the team and you saw signs of the team developing at Manchester City and Manchester United. I was pleased with the way we managed those games. The Swansea game was a step back, maybe even two steps back, in terms of the result and the way we played."
19:14
WIlf Zaha plays for Cardiff as well of course, fresh from getting the press all in a tizzy with that relatively innocuous post on Instagram. A jibe at David Moyes, apparently.
19:06
Cardiff's side is slightly more attacking than the one that lost to Swansea at the weekend - Fraizer Campbell comes in for Craig Bellamy, suspended after his violent conduct naughtiness in that Derby, and Jordon Mutch and Craig Noone come in for Kim Bo-Yeung and Peter Whittingham.
