Welcome to live coverage of the Premier League game between Tottenham Hotspurs and Norwich City. This is a grudge match, originating from centuries of visceral hatred between the two cities of Norwich and Hotspur.

Apparently Eriksen created 138 chances in the league last year, but of course that is a largely meaningless stat. Walker's cross - a chance - goes straight out for a throw.

Soldado backheels against the post! Christian Eriksen sneaks into the box, from the left wing, he cuts back and shoots low, but the keeper blocks it. Soldado gets to the rebound but his clever flick isn't accurate enough.

Sigurdsson and Rose are seeing plenty of the ball on the left, but not doing anything impressive with it.
10'
Danny Rose is amusingly cleaned out by Whittaker - hard and firm. More of this in football, please.

Elmander pulls Dembele to the ground, but it's nothing serious. Spurs build from the back. They are having plenty of possession in front of Norwich's defence but they're tackling hard and are well organised. A lot like a vicious politburo, as favoured by Trotskyist Chris Houghton.

Eriksen's cross is cleared well by Bassong. Spurs again have the ball, passing from right to left, and Snodgrass blocks Rose's cross.

Spurs keep the ball in midfield again. Hurry up, Spurs!

Norwich break with Elmander. From the midfield, just inside his half, he breaks from the centre to the right, and releases a weak, deflected shot just inside the box.
5'
Norwich have the ball in the Spurs half, but Spurs win possession and calmly pass the ball around midfield.

Close for Spurs! Andros Townsend has space outside the box, cuts onto his left and drags his shot a fraction wide.

Spus attack down the right, but Norwich interrupt momentarily, until a Townsend cross is cleared by Turner, and Paulinho's next is out for a throwi in.

Norwich and Spurs share possession in the early stages of the game. No real chances until Sigurdsson's long distance shot is fired over.

We have kick off! Let's get innocuous. It will be interesting to see how Christian Eriksen does on his debut.

I think that means we'll all be supporting Norwich, if that's their choice of chant.

Just five minutes to go until kick off. This match reminds me a lot of the atmosphere of the famous 1963 European cup Final between Milan and Benfica, in that I wasn't there for either of the matches.

So far I'm most impressed with the social media presence of Norwich. I'm not sure what this says, tactically, about the match ahead, but I'm feeling in my guts that it has something to do with enganches and Rinus Michels. What about you?

To mark Twitter's plans for an IPO, why not join me on that medium and increase the stock price for these hard-up technopioneers? You can find me at @lxndrnthrtn. I would genuinely love your input on the game as it progresses. Thanks!

So far this season I've been most impressed by Leroy Fer, who has both dynamism and an eye for a pass. I haven't seen much of Spurs, but I'm surprised, given his showings last year, that Gylfi Sigurdsson has been given the chance to start. Then again, Andre Villas Boas is one of the best managers in the world, and I'm typing this here, so he probably knows best.

Gareth Bale scored 21 goals for Spurs last year. Their new signings will be expected to outperform this in combination, but they might not be as inspirational as the most expensive, and therefore best, player in the world.

Norwich City have the exciting Nathan Redmond in their line up again, and appears to be the main source of creativity in the side despite his relative lack of experience. To repeat my sole Nathan Redmond anecdote: I saw him drop a pack of Refreshers once. It was after a game, so I assume they were protein-enriched refreshers.
