That's it - all over! It ends 1-0 and what a dramatic finale that was. Everton stood firm for so long but they'll live to regret that Lukaku chance. Chelsea's gap at the top of the league stays at seven points. Excuse me while I get my breath back.

That's tough on Everton. Even more so when replays show Ivanovic leaning in with his head on McCarthy in the aftermath of the Barry red card. More than a case for a red for Ivanovic himself there.

GOAL! There's no doubt this time - Chelsea have scored at the death! It's Willian and it's a powerful low half-volley which flies through bodies and may take a nick off an Everton leg. Either way, Howard is fooled and Chelsea have the lead.

More drama in the closing stages here and Barry is shown a red card! It's a second yellow for a clumsy one on Willian and he trudges off the pitch. That was his 11th yellow of the season and he was already facing a two-game ban.

GOAL DISALLOWED! Chelsea think they've won it! But the linesman spoils the party. Matic shoots from the edge of the box and it's diverted in by Ivanovic, who was just in an offside position. Good call.

More Chelsea pressure and the Everton heart rates rise once more as Oviedo has to turn the ball behind for yet another Chelsea corner. I'm losing count now.

Three misicks in a row from Everton as they struggle to clear their lines. Chelsea have a free-kick from the right and Howard dives across to punch clear.

Into the last ten minutes to go and what a defensive performance this has been so far from Everton. I know the fans want the attacking football of last season but they can hardly turn their noses up at clean sheets against Liverpool and Chelsea. If they see this through, that is.

Hazard goes down again but this time he's not fouled, it's just a dive. Everton hesitate and think about putting it out but think better of it. Good work from Lukaku and Mirallas tries from range but his shot flies just over the bar.

Quarter of an hour to go and it's difficult to see how this one will pan out. Chelsea still on top but Everton, and specifically Lukaku, have had the most clear-cut chances of the game.

“Is Barkley the most overrated English player since Wilshire?” said Neil in the comments section before the match. “Barkley looks good on the ball but you could stick someone as mediocre as Ashley Young in his position and he would get far more goals/assists than Barkley.” Difficult to disagree on tonight's showing - Barkley barely involved.

Double change for Everton now, with Barkley making way for Darron Gibson and Kevin Mirallas on in place of Lennon.

Chelsea make a double change with Didier Drogba coming on for Remy and Cesc Fabregas on for Cuadrado.

What a chance! An Everton corner comes back out but Oviedo picks it up and puts in a low cross, and Lukaku is there unmarked but shoots straight at Cech from inside the six yard box. How did that not go in?!

Another good save from Howard! The American is down at full stretch to deny Willian and importantly parries the ball away rather than into the path of the braying Chelsea attackers.

Everton carelessly give the ball away in Chelsea's third. They'll only invite more and more pressure if they continue to do that. In fact, the visitors have hardly had anything going forward this half, which is turning into a mission to come away with a clean sheet.
