Barkley surges forward but Everton recycle possession and then lose it. Chelsea enjoy a period of sustained pressure and Howard is forced into a fine save from a close range Loic Remy header.

First effort on goal for Cuadrado. He has it inside the box on the right hand side but the angle is too tight and there's too much pressure from Jagielka for the Colombian to be able to threaten Howard's goal.

Everton's corner comes to nothing. A really good chance there for Lukaku to grab his first goal at Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku goes close! Everton break with pace and the Belgian striker is through on goal but his effort is too close to Cech who deflects the ball behind with his legs. Should have done better.

Close! Willian strikes one from the edge of the box and it flies just over Howard's crossbar.

I said Besic loves a tackle, didn't I? Here he is upending Eden Hazard and earning a yellow card before five minutes have elapsed.

Willian bursts down the left and Besic is straight across with a slide tackle. He loves a tackle, that boy, and has been an increasingly important cog in Everton's midfield.

Difficult ball for Seamus Coleman to deal with early on but he manages to give it to Phil Jagielka to thrash clear. Nemanja Metaic gathers, though, shrugs off repeated niggles from Mo Besic and gets a shot off but it sails over the bar.

The teams are in the tunnel and will soon be making their way out onto the pitch, which is shrouded in darkness in an effort to create some sort of atmosphere inside the Bridge. Kick-off just around the corner!

You have to go all the way back to 1994 for the last time Everton won at Stamford Bridge in the league. The Toffees have only won four of the last 16 meetings. It will be a tall order tonight, then, especially for a team with just one win in nine.

So, after the weekend, Chelsea sit seven points clear at the top of the table and look in danger of running away with the league. They certainly ran away with their last match against Everton. You'll no doubt have fond memories (Everton fans aside) of the pulsating madness of the 6-3 win at Goodison Park near the start of the season. If this one's anything like that we're in for a treat.

A fair few changes to the Chelsea side that beat Aston Villa at the weekend. Juan Cuadrado makes his first start for the club after signing from Fiorentina on deadline day and Petr Cech replaces Thibaut Courtois between the sticks. There are starts too for Loic Remy and Kurt Zouma and Cesc Fabregas returns to the squad after a hamstring problem but can’t force Ramires out of the XI. Similarly for Everton, deadline day signing Aaron Lennon makes his first start for the club while Tim Howard is fit again and comes straight back in for Joel Robles. Also, Ross Barkley starts.
