Pardew must be happy that his side haven't conceded. Can understand why the home side have gone defensive against such a threatening Chelsea team.

Willian sends a shot spinning inches wide of the home goal. Lovely play by Hazard. Failed to pick out Costa, but Willian's effort so unfortunate not to find the net.

Perez wins the ball from Hazard before Newcastle look to build a rare attack. Ameobi goes for goal from distance, but no real threat as the effort is charged down.

Cahill heads well over the bar from eight yards out. Decent delivery from the corner, but Newcastle had enough bodies back to deal with the danger.

Taylor getting in ahead of Costa to win the ball after Willian had come up with another decent cross in the home box.

Chelsea under Mourinho have failed to score in three of their last four Premier League away trips to the North East, and in five of their last seven under him.

Courtois off his line quickly to collect a cross before Chelsea break to the other end as Hazard sends a shot wide of goal. Really decent cross from Janmaat there.

César Azpilicueta doing well to keep the ball in play out wide. Azpilicueta keeping Filipe Luis out of the Chelsea side. Which says enough about his form so far this season.

Willian with a shot at goal. A few yards wide with Elliott scrambling across his line. Some nice stuff involving Costa and Hazard. Newcastle on the back foot.

No doubt that Chelsea are the dominant force so far. Mourinho must be happy with how his side have started the afternoon at what is always a tricky venue.

Chelsea doing well to keep possession. A lovely run by Ivanovic again and he picks out Costa, but he can't get the shot at goal. Nice play by the visiting side.
