Daniels plays a hopeful pass down the left attempting to find King running behind the Watford defence but Gomes wins the race to the ball.

Deeney and Ighalo link up neatly on the edge of the Bournemouth box for the first time but Deeney's attempted pass through to Anya is wayward and the move breaks down.

Watford attempt to immediately put pressure on the Bournemouth defence but their inability to keep the ball allows the buoyant home side to begin to build possession again.

GOAL! Bournemouth 1-0 Watford. Ritchie and Francis combine well down the right and the Scotland international clips a delightful cross in that Murray glances beyond Gomes and into the top corner. A goal out of nothing.

King's pace and direct running causes a moment of panic in the Watford defence but the striker has no support and is eventually smothered by Prodl and Cathcart.

Capoue comes deep to receive the ball directly from Gomes before launching a quarterback-style pass up towards Ighalo, but his attempt lacks accuracy and is comfortably claimed by Cook.

More good work from Nyom allows Ighalo to bring the ball down in the Bournemouth area but the Nigerian is unable to wriggle his way past Distin, who eventually clears.

Desperate to get into the game, Ighalo harries Gosling inside the Watford half but ends up fouling the former Everton youngster.

Francis becomes the latest to try his hand at delivering from wide for Bournemouth but Nyom rises highest to head clear the cross.

Watford are struggling to create anything when Bournemouth sit deep and their woes are summed up when Ake fails to control a sideways Capoue pass and the ball runs out for a throw.

King wins the ball in his own half and drives upfield at the Watford defence before finding Murray, but the striker's first touch is poor and he ends up giving away a foul.

Bournemouth now take their turn to probe in possession but the move fizzles out when a speculative long ball fails to connect with Murray and runs through to Gomes.

Watford work the ball out to Nyom on the right, who jinks inside beyond Pugh and unleashes a fierce shot that strikes Daniels before Bournemouth clear.

Murray wins the game's first free-kick after Capoue brings him down 35 yards from goal but Ritchie's in-swinging delivery is easily claimed by Gomes.

Watford regain a foothold on possession but intelligent Bournemouth pressing forces the ball all the way back to Gomes, whose wayward kick goes out for a throw to the delight of the home crowd.

A nice low ball in from Daniels on the left is glanced on by an unmarked Murray in the Watford area but the former Crystal Palace striker is correctly judged offside.

Bournemouth again attack down the right and Ritchie's inviting cross to the back post is met by Murray, whose looping header drifts over the Watford crossbar.

Watford calmly stroke the ball around their backline with Bournemouth seemingly happy to let the visitors enjoy possession in non-dangerous areas.

King peels out onto the right flank and caps a powerful run with a dangerous cross that Gomes gathers ahead of the lurking Murray.

Watford immediately look to impose themselves with full-backs Nyom and Ake venturing deep into the Bournemouth half, but the home side withstand the early pressure without Boruc being called into action.
