Chelsea’s returning captain John Terry leads out the home side’s players. Terry, who started every Premier League game for the Blues last season, has featured in only four of Chelsea’s seven league games this season.

However, incredibly, no side have allowed the opponents more shots on target in the Premier League this season than Chelsea (45), while Southampton have allowed the fewest (17).

While Chelsea are on a barren run, Mourinho has never lost a Premier League game to Southampton. Furthermore, the Saints have won one of their last 13 trips to Stamford Bridge, a 4-2 victory for the Saints in January 2002.

Ronald Koeman: “Maybe they have some defensive problems. Last season they were the team, along with our defenders, who had the best record in defence. They didn't concede a lot of goals. This season it is different. Maybe the confidence is not quite the same."

Jose Mourinho has been brutally honest ahead of this game: “I define (this) as the worst period of my career, with the worst results in my career. I get it as a fantastic experience - an experience that I don't want to repeat. I want to finish tomorrow and win some matches again. I think it comes too late, to come after 15 years is too late, but it's something that is helping me to be better, a great negative experience."

For the Saints, Jordie Clasie is still not fit enough to return to action so it is a midfield three of Oriol Romeu, Victor Wanyama, and Steven Davis for Southampton.Saido Mane, Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic lead the line for the visitors.

Jose Mourinho has recalled captain John Terry, Oscar and Eden Hazard after they were either benched or not in the squad at all in the midweek defeat to Porto. Striker Diego Costa completes his three-match suspension, so Radamel Falcao starts up front.
