45'
Cattermole picks out Van Aanholt with a gem of a through-ball, but the full-back fails to control when he would have had a golden chance to open the scoring. For all of Sunderland's tedious tactics they've still had the better of the chances.

There will be two minutes added on at the end of the half.
44'
The Palace fans clearly feel that Sunderland have come in search of a point, and it's hard to disagree with them. Every free-kick awarded results in a lengthy delay before it is pumped long towards the mass of green shirts waiting on the edge of the Palace box.
43'
Cabaye slices a shot horribly wide after lovely work from Zaha opens Sunderland up down the flank and his dinked cross is only half dealt with by the trio of centre-backs.
41'
Cabaye is being given plenty of stick by the travelling supporters, presumably because of his Newcastle connection, but he's not letting it put him off his game and whips in another dangerous delivery from a corner. Getting the ball into the box in the air has been the most threatening approach for Palace today, which is a surprise against this Sunderland side.
39'
A Sunderland free-kick is hoofed long by O'Shea, accompanied by the derisory jeers of the home faithful. It's easily dealt with by Palace, who break through Bolasie.
38'
In truth this game has yet to get going, despite a lack of effort from both sides. Sunderland have a lack of quality in midfield that prevents them ever sustaining a spell of pressure, while Palace have been scrappy in the final third and haven't been able to take advantage of their midfield dominance.
36'
Palace are starting to force their game-plan on Sunderland, who had it pretty easy for the first half hour. It's woken the crowd up a bit too.

Bolasie's spectacular overhead kick is just off-target and Zaha can't turn it in at the back post either, but the English winger was offside in any case.
33'
The ball breaks to Bolasie inside the box, but he hesitates and the chance is lost. That's more like it from Palace though, who are stringing together passes in midfield and stretching Sunderland's new-look back-line.

McArthur's shot stings the palms of Pantilimon as he lets fly from distance. That was a great hit and the closest that Palace have come to breaking the deadlock.
28'
Wickham gets eased away from a cross into the box and Sunderland again come out with the ball in defence. It's been far too easy for the visitors to deal with Palace so far.
27'
A heavy touch from Defoe gets the biggest cheer of the night as the ball runs out of play for a Palace throw-in. That pretty much sums up the game so far, which has lacked quality despite the high tempo and attacking intent.
25'
A Palace counter-attack as Sunderland's five man defence (it was a back-five, Big Sam was just being mischievous in his pre-game comments) shut it down and clear. Defences are well and truly on top at Selhurst Park.
23'
The free-kick squeezes through to O'Shea, who fires a shot into a crowd of bodies, but it's deflected away and Palace clear.
22'
Defoe goes down in the box and the ref blows his whistle... but the foul was fractionally outside the box and it's just a free-kick.
21'
He denies it, but long-ball tactics and Big Sam go together like peas and gravy. It's not pretty, but it's probably Sunderland's only hope.
19'
It's been an interesting game so far. Palace look the more classy of the sides and are causing problems when Bolasie and Zaha get on the ball, but Sunderland's 'Allerdici' tactics are looking just as threatening (if not more so).

O'Shea and Bolasie both go down after a nasty-looking clash in the air. They will be okay to continue, but that looked like it hurt!
