It's hard not to agree that the atmosphere has dropped massively from the loud opening ten minutes, but the action on the pitch has hardly helped.

Liverpool's early energy has dissipated and the tempo of the match has dropped alarmingly. This game needs a goal.

It's true that Kompany is looking very comfortable so far tonight. It may be on the verge of becoming a cliche, but City are a completely different side with their skipper at the back.

The atmosphere at Anfield is decent - as it so often is for these evening games - but it's doubly impressive given the disappointment of losing at Wembley just three days ago.

Navas whips a cross into the box that almost picks out Aguero. That's the first meaningful attack of the game by City, but it's also the closest we've come to a chance at either end.

The Liverpool subs look on from the bench, wrapped up in an assortment of snoods and such like. It's pretty cold on Merseyside this evening.

Origi runs the channels and whips in a cross towards Firmino, but the ball sails over the Brazilian's head... and he was offside in any case.

For all of Liverpool's energy and dominance, they have yet to create any clear-cut changes, with Kompany and Otamendi looking comfortable at the back.

Origi bursts towards goal after a clever turn in the centre of the park. It's brilliant by the Belgian and he draws a foul from Otamendi.

Lallana against drifts forward and looks to break in behind the full-back. Even though he loses the ball he looks in the mood for it tonight.

A Lallana cross drifts out of play, but the hosts are finding plenty of space out wide. City haven't woken up yet.
