Ball played forward with Tadic looking to set up Long's second in as many minutes, but he's just peaked a bit too soon there.

Confusion between Otamendi and Hart as the former seems to keep going while Hart is on the floor. That could have been unfortunate for City.

Lovely strike there by Southampton which is just a little wide and hits the side of the net. That was a relentless couple of minutes for City.

Tadic went straight back in for more, but Joe Hart did well to get a hand to the most recent effort. If they can keep this level of aggression up...

That could have been exciting as Tadic looked ready to pounce but there's no one there to help him and he's waited just a little too long to make use of the opportunity.

Southampton have made some good challenges and some bold runs, but when they get into the area, they look considerably less threatening with some slightly off-key strikes that could possibly be made more of if they took a bit more time.

A poor ball there by the Saints, no real direction, straight back to Joe Hart. City with a throw in.

City have had the lion's share of possession so far - 65%, but Southampton have managed to hold them back relatively well, keeping them in the midfield. That said, we're back in the Saints' area right now.

The Saints had a good opportunity there after making a steal of the ball from City, but it goes nowhere and City reclaim it with no real difficulty.

Possession has switched a couple of times already but the teams look pretty even right now. This could be a good game if they both keep it up.

Man City are on it now but Southampton look pretty compact in defence.

Southampton are first out of the box, so to speak, pressing forward with some nice moves in the final third already. Strong start with a strike by Mane.
