First sign that Mane is growing frustrated with the attentions of Taylor as he needlessly brings down the Swansea City left-back, but Roger East elects not to book him.

Wanyama finds Pelle in space after a powerful surge through the middle but the Italian's attempted ball through to Mane is comfortably intercepted by Taylor.

Shelvey finds Sigurdsson on the edge of the Southampton box and the Iceland international twists and turns before winning a free kick.

CHANCE: Shelvey finds Ki in space 25 yards out and the South Korean's low shot is parried back into danger by Stekelenburg, but Ayew is in no position to capitalise on the rebound and the danger passes.

Swansea City work the ball from right to left but their attempts to venture into Southampton's defensive third are thwarted by the home side's relentless pressing.

Shelvey again attempts to recreate his February winner with a hopeful strike from 25 yards but it flies well over Stekelenburg's crossbar.

Tadic and Bertrand combine neatly again on the left flank but when the ball is finally floated into the box, Fabianski comes out confidently to claim.

Bertrand surges forward to latch onto a clever Tadic flick but the alert Fernandez manages to shepherd the ball out for a goal kick.

Swansea City regain their composure with a spell of possession but fail to make any real impact on the Southampton defence.

Southampton are full of confidence and Pelle wins another corner that causes panic in the Swansea City area, but Shelvey eventually clears.

GOAL! Southampton 1-0 Swansea City. Tadic wins a corner off Naughton and Van Dijk rises highest at the near post to head in Ward-Prowse's pinpoint delivery - his first Premier League goal.

CHANCE: Wanyama wins the ball on the halfway line and drives forward before finding Pelle who slides a neat ball through to the onrushing Mane, but the Senegal international's low shot trickles just wide.

Cork drifts out to the right and floats a cross towards Gomis at the back post, but Cedric positions himself well to head clear.

CHANCE: Swansea City mount their first real attack and after Stekelenburg beats away a Shelvey drive from range, Ki miscues his shot when well placed in the box.

Southampton are pinning their visitors back and after a dangerous spell of play, Mane cuts onto his left foot and fires a shot well over Fabianski's crossbar.

CHANCE: Tadic darts down the left flank and and pulls the ball back smartly to Pelle on the edge of the penalty area, but the Italian mistimes his shot and hits nothing but air.

It's a sloppy start as both teams look to impose their fierce pressing, but Swansea City are the first to settle into possession.
