If reports are to be believed, Hazard was almost sold earlier in the transfer window. However, Conte has decided that he wants to work with the Belgian to get the best from him.

Carroll is giving Chelsea a lot of problems as the focal point of the West Ham attack. Cahill is struggling to get a grip on him. The big striker looks lively early on in this match.

West Ham are an entertaining team to watch and they won't just come to Stamford Bridge and look to defend tonight. They are already making an impression in the final third.

Now West Ham have the chance to swing a freekick into the opposition penalty area. The ball spins up into the air and Chelsea are awarded a freekick as Courtois is impeded.

KANTE GOES IN THE BOOK! That's not good for Chelsea's new central midfielder. He brought down Carroll and that yellow cards means he will be on thin ice for the rest of this match.

YELLOW CARD: N'Golo Kante (Chelsea)

That's a disappointing delivery. William couldn't beat Carroll as the first man with his freekick cross. Chelsea had a lot of players up from the back. Missed opportunity early on.

It will be extremely interesting to see how Chelsea will line up this evening. Conte is a fan of a back three but it looks like a flat back four for the Blues here against West Ham.

The Conte era is officially under way at Chelsea! The Italian is the 10th manager to take charge of the club since Roman Abramovich became the owner. A lot is expected of him.
