Evening all, and here we are again for what is a rather large game. If Chelsea win, it'll look even blacker for the chasing pack; if Liverpool lose, well, dearie me. On the other hand, if Chelsea lose and Spurs and don't, well, here we go; if Liverpool win, it might just save their season.

Moses goes down the right for the first time and finds Willian just ahead of him; he runs the ball into touch and everyone laughs.

Chelsea have done nothing but defend and give the ball away, and when they win a free-kick close to halfway, instead of taking the opportunity to do something, it's walloped directly to Henderson.

Liverpool are at it, Lallana setting Countinho away to run at Luiz. And he fools him too, feinting right, moving left, before tripping over the ball. The pressure is maintained, but, and eventually Coutinho slides right to Wijnaldum, who flings his body into a rasper that Courtois pushes away high at the near post.

Henderson and Firmino build at inside-left, feeding Milner again, but when his low cross arrives one of Chelsea's nine centre-backs humps it clear.

Henderson moves into space, the spare man given Chelsea's two versus Liverpool's three. He unleashes a long diagonal aimed at Milner but gives it just too much. Nonetheless, that is a warning, and the gome side are looking good.

Milner lays the ball infield for Coutinho and continues pounding down the line, so Coutinho finds him and clips back a cross that Firminho attempts to control for Henderson. But Kante is watching, and charges into the road.

Marcos Alonso takes a stray arm to the fizog, and there's a brief break while he regathers himself. Chelsea are still to string anything together.

At the Emirates, Arsenal trail Watford 2-0, while in the north-east, Boro and West Brom have already scored a goal each.

Liverpool win a corner down the right, rolled short along the by-line by Coutinho for Lallana. The cross is the quick and flat, but Luiz is up first to head clear. Chelsea have yet to get going, though.

It's a big night for Emre Can, this, who is a tidy player but has looked too slow for Liverpool's purposes of late.

"Two great teams," says impartiality's Steve McManaman, as those of us watching on telly recalibrate our fields of vision to take in this ridiculous new Anfield camera angle. Meanwhile, Liverpool knock the ball along the back-four, totally dominating the game.

And away we go!

Conte is wearing a baseball hat. That has got to be a dare.

Went to the cinema on my own today, which involved walking. It was pleasant, thanks for asking.

Here come the players...

So, what's going to happen tonight? The big question - for me, Clive - is whether Liverpool opt to keep things as tight as possible, to get into the game, or go for it. Should they be bold, they run the risk of being out of thing by half-time, but, on the other hand, Spurs didn't wait to be asked and things went well for them. All of which is a long-winded way of saying that I can't see Liverpool winning.

Ferdinand and Gerrard are deconstructing Liverpool's defending: ballwatching at the back, too slow to cover.

Rio Ferdinand is currently criticising Klopp - "you've gotta create a winning mentality ... and he's struggled to do that at important moments."
