Good evening one and all, and welcome to the live blog for Hull City's trip to Middlesbrough. Just one point separates the two sides - a win would lift 19th-placed Hull out of the relegation zone, while Boro (currently 16th) could move up to 13th with victory. Team news coming shortly...

Boro playing it around smartly but then Valdes' clearance is poor. It's with Huddlestone but his pass to Bowen is too heavy and it rolls out for a goal-kick. Surely that's that...

And so it is. The full-time whistle goes and Boro grab a deserved win!

Huddlestone fouls Forshaw on the halfway line and Boro have a minute to kill now.

Wow. A cross or a shot? Not sure, but Diomande's whipped effort is delfected and Valdes is forced to turn it round for a corner. The cross comes in and Elmohamady flicks it on - Diomande is inches away from connecting and that was the chance Hull were looking for. But they can't make it count...

Four minutes to add on... Still hope for Hull!

Not long left then and Hull must throw everything they have at Boro. One minute plus stoppage time to go...

A poor Robertson ball allows Boro to counter and Stuani wins a corner for the hosts. THey will not rush this one.

Goalscorer Ramirez is down after a hefty challenge and he won't be able to continue. On comes Downing to replace him.

Wasteful from Hull. They have a chance to break and Diomande flicks it onto Clucas nicely. He decides to shoot instead of playing it over to Robertson. His effort is poor and trickles wide.

Robertson with the ball on the left for Hull. His cross is blocked and out for a corner... Snodgrass sends it in and Fabio eventually clears away. Huddlestone pumps it back in and Dawson gets his head onto it but Valdes is there to catch with ease.

Final Hull sub as Meyler comes on to replace Henriksen, who I have mentioned once I think all match. A very quiet 80 minutes...

Boro play it around nicely before Forshaw puts in a dangerous ball. It's headed out to Fischer, who takes a couple of touches before curling an effort high and wide. That's his last bit of action as Stuani comes on to replace him.

Down the other end Boro have a corner and Ramirez plays it in low. There are cries for a handball but nothing given...

FREE HEADER! Hull win a corner thanks to Henriksen. Snodgrass puts in a delightful ball and Clucas is there unmarked eight yards out, but he sends his header over! Great chance to level.

JUST OVER! Fabio does well down the left and crosses in from the byline, Negredo leaps highest but his header has little power and it's just over the bar.

Dawson's block brought up a corner for Boro, and it fell to Clayton 30 yards out to drill it low but Hull manage to clear it away. Fabio meanwhile goes in the book for a tactical foul as Hull looked to break.

Not a lot going on it has to be said. Boro still have 20 minutes to see this out. They've dominated this match and could really put this game beyond doubt if they wanted... And that they almost do, but the very-lively Fischer sees his effort blocked by Dawson.

A clear shift of mentality for Boro now, who seem content to sit back a bit now and focus on keeping the clean sheet. Could be a dangerous tactic but we'll see.

So what have Hull got in the locker. They've had more of the ball since going a goal down but have been found wanting in attack tonight...

Hull have a corner and Valdes looks all too unconvincing as he flaps at the cross. But he gets away with one and Boro clear.

On come Bowen and Huddlestone...
