Boos from the home fans to greet the final whistle from Martin Atkinson. It ends Sunderland 1-4 Arsenal. The Gunners go top ahead of Manchester City's match against West Brom at the Hawthorns. Arsene Wenger's side are unbeaten since that opening day defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates.

CHANCE: Ozil picks out Sanchez, but Pickford wins the 50-50 and then Ramsey shoots the follow-up shot wide.

Rodwell heads clear a Bellerin cross towards Ozil for a corner. Mustafi is just unable to get on the end of Ozil's corner and Arsenal have a second corner, which Pickford can punch clear.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles replaces Coquelin for Arsenal's final substitution.

Djilobodji just gets a toe-end to a Sanchez pass, with Giroud waiting on the shoulder and with a clear run on goal.

Alexis Sanchez has scored his 50th goal for Arsenal on his 106th appearance for the club. By way of comparison, it took Thierry Henry 104 appearances to hit 50 goals.

Van Aanholt seems to be injured, but Moyes brings on Lynden Gooch for Watmore, That is a strange decision for the Scot.

Sanchez should tee up Ozil, but the Chilean is on a hat-trick, and unsurprisingly attempts to shoot.

The crowd at the Stadium of Light is 44, 322, the Black Cats' highest of the season. The stadium is half-full now following that fourth goal, though.

Giroud has now scored seven goals in his last seven appearances against Sunderland in all competitions.

In amongst the three goals, Aaron Ramsey came on after a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, replacing Oxlade-Chamberlain.

GOAL: Sunderland 1-4 Arsenal. Sanchez nets his second goal of the game, turning Djilobodji and beating Pickford after being teed up by Ramsey following Gibbs' shot, which hit the post.

GOAL: Sunderland 1-3 Arsenal. Giroud heads home Arsenal's third at the near post from Ozil's corner. That's two goals in his five minutes for the France international.

Ozil's free-kick hits the wall and dribbles out for a corner.

Januzaj hits Coquelin in the face with his boot as he tries to clear a corner, and concedes a free-kick 25 yards from goal.

Sunderland try to hit back, but van Aanholt is caught offside from Defoe's pass.

GOAL: Sunderland 1-2 Arsenal. Giroud scores with almost his first touch, a left-foot volley from Gibbs' cross from the left following a great driving run by Sanchez.

Sunderland boss David Moyes goes to a 4-1-4-1 formation, with Adnan Januzaj coming on for Pienaar.

Olivier Giroud, who has yet to score this season, replaces Iwobi for Arsenal
