AS state the Italian coach went directly to Blues owner Roman Abramovich to prioritise the transfer this summer with a €65m (£56m) bid likely to persuade Madrid to sell the striker who they re-signed from the Italian champions last summer.
The report states:
Morata has pretty much taken the decision to leave Real Madrid next summer. His overwhelming desire was always to stay and make it big at the club of his dreams (in fact he signed a contract with the Spanish giants through to 2022), but he's realised Zidane isn't convinced... According to sources consulted by this newspaper, Antonio Conte, current coach of the Premier leaders, has told Abramovich of his desire to land the Madrid and Spain striker.
Morata has only started nine Liga games for Los Blancos this season but has netted eight times – a scoring rate of a goal every 111 minutes.
A recent report in the Guardian stated the striker could be on his way to Stamford Bridge as part of a transfer ring which would see Belgian pair Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard move to the Spanish capital.
