Real Madrid could offer Paul Pogba a route out of Manchester, whilst John Terry wants a Chelsea return. It’s Friday’s Paper Round.

Real want Pogba

We start in The Sun who have a big back-page exclusive that Real Madrid want to sign Paul Pogba for £120million in the summer. The report stresses that United do not want to sell and at the moment Pogba does not want to leave (which does beg the question why we’re bothering at all) but Real will look to change the player’s mind in the summer.
Paper Round's view: Paul Pogba is going through a rough patch, it’s true, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s an exceptionally talented footballer. United would be crazy to get rid of him and it’s hard to see this one happening.

Terry wants Chelsea return

We move to The Mirror who have an exclusive of their own, which says that former Chelsea captain John Terry wants to return to Stamford Bridge. Terry reportedly wants to return as a coach with the long-term view to eventually becoming the club’s manager.
Paper Round's view: Ironically, Chelsea already have a former player doing very well in the coaching set-up, with Jody Morris’ youth side impressing hugely this season. Even if Terry does return and rise through the ranks will he be entrusted with the club without managing elsewhere?

Liverpool could stick with Karius

In The Telegraph it is reported that Liverpool could change their transfer strategy and stick with Lloris Karius rather than pursue Allison. The fee for the Brazilian No.1 could reach £70million and Jurgen Klopp would reportedly rather stick with Karius than pay that.
Paper Round's view: Sometimes keepers take time to adjust to new clubs. Remember how poor David De Gea was in his early days at Manchester United? There’s no suggestion that Karius can reach those levels but he’s certainly done enough to be given more of a chance.

McLeish set for Scotland return

We end with a report doing the rounds that Alex McLeish is set to become the next manager of the Scottish national team, returning to a role he left in 2007.
Paper Round's view: You have to sympathise with Scottish football fans, the FA clearly has no real structure at all. There’s an impressive group of players coming through but it feels they need more to be able to achieve their full potential on the international stage.
