The Cherries are finding acres of space in the wide area but their delivery has been poor thus far. Players like Defoe and King would rather have the ball to feet anyway.

King gets the ball played into his feet, he tricks his way into the penalty area but can only win a corner. The subsequent set-piece comes to nothing.

Bournemouth continue to exploit the space on the channels as Daniels surges forward before whipping in a cross from deep. It evades Defoe at the near post and Brighton can clear.

Defoe comes mightily close to grabbing his first goal for Bournemouth as he curls an effort marginally wide of Ryan's left-hand post from the edge of the box. The 'keeper was beaten!

There's the moment Brighton have been waiting for - Arter gifts the ball to Propper in midfield. He breaks forward with pace, rides a couple of challenges before trying an audacious chip from just outside the box, but it goes just wide.

The ball falls kindly for Fraser who runs at Stephens inside the box, but the Brighton defender stands firm and dispossesses the Bournemouth midfielder.

Arter finds Daniels with a cross-field switch, he nods the ball into the penalty area where Defoe is ready to pounce, but Brighton manage to clear.

Indeed, Brighton have all 11 players inside their own half at the moment. Bournemouth will have to remain patient.

Brighton seem content to sit back and let Bournemouth have the ball. The visitors look pretty well organised in defence and they're waiting for the moment to launch an attack on the break.

Daniels surges forward from inside his half. He just keeps running and running, he has support to either side, but lashes an effort at goal from 30 yards which is straight forward for Brighton's goalkeeper Ryan.

The best move of the match thus far, but it comes to nothing. Arters picks out Daniels on the left channel with a lovely pass, his first touch tees up Pugh who slices his effort wide of the goal from inside the penalty area. Should have at least hit the target.

Brighton haven't been scarred from conceding possession in defence a few minutes ago, as they continue to try to play their way out from the back.

Really sloppy play from Brighton as Duffy passes straight to King inside his own half. The mistake goes unpunished though as King sees his shot charged down. A let off for Hughton's side.

Finally, we have a shot at goal. Knockaert's lovely first touch takes him past Daniels, he cuts inside and drills a low shot from 20 yards, but it's wide of Begovic's right-hand post.

Ake, on the ball just now, hasn't been overly impressive since his signing from Chelsea in the summer. He was at fault for Arsenal's second goal last week.

Howe will be pleased with how his side have kept the ball in the early stages. They're finding plenty of space on the wings but the front men haven't managed to get involved just yet.
