Mkhitaryan tries to float a ball over the top for Lukaku's run a few yards ahead of him, but it's intercepted. United need another goal to calm things down, here.

Rooney gets clattered from behind but not before he finds Schneiderlin. In turn, he gives it to Martina for yet another cross, and Everton have United not exactly on the ropes, but mindful of where the ropes are.

Everton are fighting back now. Martina sends in another excellent cross, and Davies's diving header is stopped by a brilliant De Gea save - he was just offside, mind.

Holy moly. Keane plays a ball to nobody for Mata to intercept. He plays it first time to Lukaku, who takes it past Williams, and chips a left-footed shot inches wide of the post. What a miss.

Apparently, Mourinho has yet to beat Koeman in the league here.

United win a free kick 35 yards out, relatively central. Mkhitaryan and Mata size it up. Keane heads away Mata's dinked cross.

Martina pulls the ball back across the box for Rooney's run, and he fizzes in a low shot that is only a yard or side wide of the post.

Lukaku slips in Rashford, who is running slightly away from goal behind the defence, and he's tackled by an excellent Williams intervention.

Valencia goes in roughly on Sigurdsson, but gets away with just the foul. It's just over the halfway line in United's half.

Rashord runs onto a loose ball down the left, but his cross is collected by Pickford at the near post.

Matic floats a long ball out of play, and Pickford sends it long for Everton to break. Martina reeives, plays it to Davies, but the return pass isn't good enough.

Martina curls in a cross from the right, but nobody is up to provide adequate support.

Mata picks out Young with a good ball on the left wing, inside the box and on the touchline, but his volley of a cross is far too hard.

Valencia tries to get around Sigurdsson on the right wing, but he's tackled, and wins a throw.

The ball has spent 3% of the match so far in United's third.

Young finds Mata on the overlap, but Jagielka heads it away to Young. Back to Mata, and his low cross is eventually cleared.

GOAL! Manchester United 1-0 Everton. Valencia scores - Young dinks the ball back for Matic, ready for a cross. It looks as if Matic has mishit his cross, but he's actually pulled it across for Valencia, and he lashes a fierce volley into the top corner.
