One wonders what Emery truly thinks of his side's performance in this first half. Arsenal have the lead, they could have scored a second there, but this has been a very open encounter.

What a save! That probably should have been a second goal for Arsenal. The ball was played back to Xhaka inside the box, but somehow Leno made the reaction save to deny him.

Mitrovic header! Bryan lifts a cross to the back post, where the Serbian striker gets above all else. His header is down into the ground, but doesn't have the power to beat Leno.

This is a bit better from Arsenal. They are taking the opportunity to slow down the game and zip some passes around the middle of the pitch. Fulham are having to do some chasing.

Fulham are at least creating opportunities in this first half. However, they look vulnerable at the back and that has been their biggest problem all season long. They are poor defensively.

From distance! This time it's Schurrle who takes aim from the best part of 20 yards out, but the German gets too much on his strike and watches as it flashes over the crossbar.

Keep in mind that Arsenal took the lead against Liverpool at the weekend and then went on to lose 5-1. Not saying that will happen here, but Arsenal mustn't be complacent now they're ahead.

How significant could those misses from Sessegnon prove to be? Fulham should really have been ahead, but now, not for the first time this season, they are chasing the game.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Arsenal 1 (25 mins - Granit Xhaka) Fulham 0. After a poor start to the match it's Arsenal who have taken the lead after 25 minutes. Iwobi's cross from the left bounced through to Xhaka, who controlled the ball on his thigh before volleying past Rico in the Fulham goal. He had so much time and space!

Another big chance! Sessegnon was presented with another golden opportunity. Schurrle put in the ball, Sessegnon was unmarked, but the youngster completely fluffs his lines.

This is better from Arsenal, but there is space for Fulham to exploit in behind. The Cottagers are looking dangerous on the counter attack. The Gunners have to be careful.

Maitland-Niles gets in behind the Fulham defensive line and crosses from the byline. It wasn't the worst ball from the full back, but there was nobody in the middle gambling.

Koscielny isn't happy with Mitrovic for challenging for a loose ball with Leno, but the Fulham striker had every right to go for that. What is the Arsenal centre back moaning about?

Arsenal have seen more of the ball in the opening 20 minutes, but you woul have to say that Fulham have done more with it. It's the visitors who look the more likely to score right now.

This has been a concerning start to the match by Arsenal. They are struggling to get a hold of the game in the middle of the pitch, they are lacking invention and look shaky at the back.
