This has become a strange game since the opening goal. City have the lead, but United are succeeding in forcing the hosts to slow down the pace of the contest. Quite slow, now.

Sterling shot is blocked! City up the pace and work the ball to the edge of the box, with Silva and Sterling playing a one-two. But the winger's shot is charged down and it dribbles through to De Gea.

Bernardo is the first player to be shown a yellow. He took down Rashford. A clear foul.

If you had to criticise Man City, it would be over the tempo of their play in the last 10 minutes or so. They aren't playing with the intensity of the opening 10 minutes. A bit ponderous.

Mourinho comes out to the touchline to give some encouragement to his players. United have lost their way again in these last few minutes. City in control and knocking the ball around.

Lapooooooooorte! That was ambitious from the Man City centre back. Space opened up for Laporte about 30 yards out from goal, but his shot was never really troubling De Gea.

This has been United's best spell of the game so far. They are enjoying some possession and have tested City's defensive resolve with a few dangerous crosses into the box.

United work a good position down the right side with Young getting a decent ball into the front post. But nobody in a red shirt was gambling and Ederson makes the easy save.

Was Fernandinho lucky there? Man Utd were on the counter attack, with Lingard brought down on the Brazilian. It was cynical, but no yellow card. Was that the right call? Was Fernandinho lucky?

Pocket picked! Herrera took way too long to make a pass and was dispossessed by Silva. He bursts into the box, but United just about get enough players around him to halt the run.

Fellaini is very good at what he does, but is this really the way to use the Belgian? He looks completely out of his depth against this Man City midfield. United struggling to zip the passes around.

One bright spark for Man Utd in these opening 20 minutes or so has been Rashford. He hasn't had any goalscoring opportunities yet, but the 22-year-old has looked sharp on the ball.

Now, City are slowing things down in the centre of the pitch. They're attempting to draw out United from their defensive shape because they know there's space in behind to exploit.

United are finding it so difficult to keep the ball in the centre of the pitch. This is where they miss Pogba. Fellaini and Matic are just being swarmed by City every time they get the ball.

The response from United since losing the opener has been a decent one. They are looking to keep the ball higher up the pitch. They are coming out of their shell... slightly.
