United's attackers are so static. Mata is trying his little best, but Martial must do more. But here they are! Wan-Bissaka, found by Matic, snaps in another low cross, and Mata is there! So he tries a shot with his right that screws the ball into his left! That was a great chance.

In commentary, they reckon Phil Jones not having caused a disaster yet is a "big plus for Manchester United".

For a free-kick almost on halfway, Burnley send up their defenders, and this is why: Mee wins the first header on the edge of the box, setting Wood for a chance ... but he heads wide from close range.

Williams piles through Lowton and looks ready to set United away, but the ref apprises a foul.

Pereira finds Mata, who drags a shot that's blocked, so Fred picks up the pieces and drags a shot that Pope saves easily enough.

Burnley will be very happy with how this is going.

Williams finds James who, on his preferred left-hand side, should be better tonight than recently. But he pokes a cross directly into Tarkowski and that's the end of that.

United needed two midfielders in the summer, and that was when Pogba and McTominay were fit. They also needed a striker, and that was when Rashford was fit. But here we are.

Martial slips but clips a lovely pass over the top for Mata nevertheless ... who sees Pereira charging up alongside him, but Tarkowski does really well to block the ball's route to him.

Mata picks up possession and feeds Wan-Bissaka, who snaps a low left-footed cross towards Martial ... but he takes his eye of the ball and feathers a skew! That was a chance! Williams then does brilliantly to retrieve it, sliding on the line to keep it in play, but picks the wrong pass to Pereira and a goalkick eventuates.

Cork finds Taylor out on the left, and he bends a decent cross around Wan-Bissaka, which Rodriguez chests down pretty well ... but the flag goes up.

United are moving the ball quickly, but haven't yet found the pass or passes to cut Burnley open.

Wan-Bissaka crosses from the right and Pereira is waiting for it, flicking behind his standing leg, but just wide.

Williams collects a pass from Mata and does well to make space, finding Fred on the edge of the box, whose whack is blocked by Cork.

Jones gives it away - ctrl c - but Hendrick's touch, just outside the box, is heavy, and Williams tidies up.

Ricardo has put Leicester 2-0 up over West Ham, for whom the Moyes bounce is in full effect.

Williams breaks nicely, finding Pereira who finds James, but the ball goes back to Matic and Williams can't meet his pass.

martial falls awkwardly in a challenge with Tarkowski and stays down. I wish him no ill, but you'd have to see the funny side were he to get injured as well. He looks fine, though.

Something worthy of note: we can now say with certainty that Brandon Williams is United's first-choice left-back. Luke Shaw came in against Liverpool to play as one of three centre-backs and did ok, but he's back out again tonight.
