Xhaka pings a ball out wide for Martinelli, who drives forward on the left. The winger's attempted cross is blocked by Livramento for an Arsenal corner.
The Southampton defender has picked up a knock in the aftermath of that and receives some treatment on the sidelines.

Ward-Prowse hits it and Ramsdale makes the save at his near post. Corner Southampton.

The ball finds Broja in a pocket, and the Albanian almost puts Armstrong clean through but his forward pass is cut out.
Partey is looking quite isolated in the centre of the pitch, and that is creating space for Saints to make the most of.

Armstrong gets past Ben White and aims a shot at the near post corner but Ramsdale makes a good save!

Tella found well in a pocket of space in the centre but his effort is straight at Ramsdale.
Shortly after, he puts through Armstrong after a touch of sloppiness from Arsenal's back line to give the ball away, but the striker's effort cannons off Ben White and it goes out for a corner.

Southampton are sloppy in their third of the pitch and give the all away to the hosts - Saka carries the ball on the right channel aiming to centre it but he runs out of play and it is a Saints goal kick.

As for the historic head-to-head record between the sides, the Gunners edge it with 52 wins, compared to 22 for the Saints.
However, in their last two matches against Southampton at home, Arsenal have been held to a draw on both occasions.

Southampton have also not had it all their own way in recent weeks, as the Saints have not won in the league since the 5th November - a run stretching four games (2L, 2D).
Ralph Hasenhuttl's side come off the back of a 1-1 draw against Brighton last time out - a win today could move the Saints up to 13th.
