Speaking to the media pre-match, Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel paid respect to the history of this fixture.

"It's one of the biggest stages, Old Trafford, in world football, and that's why we need not only good performances, you need a top performance [against them]."

The Manchester United players are out for their warm-ups.

A win for the Blues tonight would open up an eight-point gap to Arsenal in fourth, effectively sealing a third place finish.

Chelsea have also won their last nine away games in all competitions.

Despite Manchester United's issues on and off the pitch, Chelsea's recent record against the Red Devils leaves a lot to be desired.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has said that he is without eight players for tonight's game. Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are among those who are not in the matchday squad.

Speaking to the media pre-match, Rangnick said: "Yes, we have four of our academy boys on the bench tonight. In total, it's eight players missing. I would love to have them onboard, but, we have to take it as it is."

With last weekend's 3-1 defeat away to Arsenal all but confirming that Manchester United's pursuit of a top-four finish is over, Ralf Rangnick will be determined to get his side back to winning ways after their recent slump, as they look not to miss out on European qualification altogether.

United have taken just four points from the last fifteen available, and have lost three of their last four league games, conceding ten goals.
