THE GAME FOR UNITED
They'll be looking to stretch Spurs out wide, but Spurs will know that they'll only have one striker in the middle, up against three defenders - and he'd prefer to be down the left.
20:05
MIGUEL ALMIRON IS ON ONE
He's scored his fifth of the season to stick Newcastle in front of Everton.
20:02
THE GAME FOR SPURS
Is against United's centre-backs. City, though, also had plenty of joy out wide because Sancho and Antony didn't track back - presumably because they'd been told not to. I guess tonight, United have an extra midfielder to cover the width of the pitch, but Spurs' 3-5-2 formation also makes it harder for them to create overloads down the flanks.

RELATEDLY
United need more from Bruno Fernandes. He's having to learn a slightly different role, playing a bit deeper, but more than that, previously everything went through him and now there's a different style of ball-circulation with other creative forces demanding possession. He needs to work things ot quickly.
19:53
UNITED DID, THOUGH BADLY MISS ERIKSEN AGAINST NEWCASTLE
They actually had reasonable control of the game in the second half, but until the last 10 minutes they struggled to create chances, and the absence of Eriksen's guile was part of that.
19:50
IT'S WORTH NOTING
That Lisandro Martinez has yet to face Kane and Son. He's been really good so far, but these two are a different matter - and we saw away to Manchester City that good strikers are hard to defend. In that game, though, United were far too open in midfield and played into City's hands. Spurs aren't as able to move the ball as City, but the absence of Eriksen means that Fred is in to stiffen things up.
19:47
THE ABSENCE OF DEJAN KULUSEVSKI
Is a big hassle for Spurs. He's a physical brute, with the composure and intelligence to act as a one-man left-flank, and I don't think Ivan Perisic, his replacement, does.

AMAZON'S INTERVIEWER
Has just suggested that Spurs are "title contenders". Is he buzzing?

ONE CHANGE FOR SPURS TOO
Richarlison is injured, so Bissouma, who replaced him at the weekend, plays again. I actually wonder if that'll give Spurs better balance - a midfield three of him, Hojbjerg and Bentancur makes it more likely they can compete for control than just the latter two and an extra striker who is good but not transformative.
19:35
OTHERWISE
Eriksen is fit enough only for the bench while Martial, who'd make a big difference to this team - of the attackers in this squad, only he can both hold the ball up and run in behind. His bottom level is in the earth's core, but a fit and focused him is a vey good player indeed.

AS PER TWITTER
United make one change from their weekend draw with Newcastle: Marcus Rashford replaces Cristiano Ronaldo. He'd probably have played in that one had he been fit, and United improved after he came on - though he did miss two extremely presentable chances. A true killer doesn't square to Fred when around the keeper, and the least said about the header the better.

HELLO AND WELCOME

Tonight we bring you LIVE updates of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Spurs at Old Trafford. Both sides must try and finish in the top four this season, but United are only at the start of what Erik ten Hag hopes will be a revolution, while Spurs, though further along win their development, are hard to watch and still almost entirely reliant on Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.
