Liverpool cruised five points clear at the top of the Premier League tonight with a comfortable 4-1 win over Chelsea at Anfield.

Chelsea offered little resistance as the high octane pressing of Jurgen Klopp’s team caught them in possession several times, and they were repeatedly punished in full. Outside of that Darwin Nunez missed a penalty and hit the woodwork four times in total, as a lacklustre Chelsea were picked apart.

An impressive turn from Conor Bradley was topped off with a first goal for Liverpool and an assist for Dominic Szoboszlai. Outside of that Diogo Jota menaced Chelsea and scored the opener after more good work from Bradley.

Christopher Nkunku snuck in a goal with just under 20 minutes to go to give Chelsea the faintest glimmer of hope, but Nunez set up Luis Diaz soon after to seal the victory.

Liverpool will now face Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, in a game that could be crucial to the outcome of the title race.

That's a convincing win for Liverpool, who have blasted Chelsea out of the way here.

We are hearing, courtesy of Darren Fletcher in comms, that Nunez hitting the woodwork four times tonight is a Premier League record for any one player. Johann Cruyff used to say that when Ajax were far enough ahead, he aimed shots for the posts because he liked the sound the ball made when it connected. I doubt that's Nunez's game here, he's just agonisingly close to a bag full.

So sing the Liverpool faithful. It has to be said, as good as the home side have been, Chelsea have been shambolic and could yet go under by more.

They're really looking like a potential title-winning side tonight. Nunez escapes a tackle by Thiago Silva, and cuts down the left side of the area. His cross to the back post is low and perfect, and Diaz arrives to add a a fourth.

Nunez hits the frame again, this time planting a header onto the bar and away after a cross from Robertson. On the follow up, a volley from Mac Allister is saved by the legs of Petrovic.
