Liverpool came from behind to draw 1-1 with Manchester City, but were left with a feeling of what could have been after missing a hatful of chances in a huge game in the Premier League title race.

The visitors took the lead on 23 minutes through an unlikely source as John Stones rounded off a clever corner routine, tapping home from Kevin De Bruyne’s delivery.

Dominik Szoboszlai should have done better with a close range header that sailed off, while Luis Diaz dragged a low effort narrowly wide from 20 yards, as the Reds failed to find an equaliser before the break.

It took only five minutes after half-time to make it 1-1 though, with Alexis Mac Allister converting from the penalty spot after a foul by Ederson on Darwin Nunez.

That led to Liverpool piling on the pressure, and they had chance after chance to take the lead, with Diaz in particular guilty of wasting some huge opportunities, while Stefan Ortega, on in goal for the injured Ederson, denied Nunez.

There was still time for Jeremy Doku to hit the post at the other end, as both teams had to settle for a point - which leaves Arsenal top of the table on goal difference with ten games remaining.

So Liverpool draw level with Arsenal on 64 points at the top of the Premier League table, but they're behind the Gunners on goal difference.

City are one point behind them. Ten games to go! What a title race!

The two teams were level at seven shots apiece in the first half. That's not how if finished - Liverpool in the end had 19 efforts on goal, six on target, while City forced just the ten. If Diaz had been more clinical, Jurgen Klopp's side win

What a game! Liverpool were sensational in the second half, City dominated before the break. The Reds probably deserved the points, but the visitors clung on. Brilliant drama. You could not take your eye off it.

City might settle for a point at the moment, but it's doubtful Liverpool would, given their domination in this second half. They have three minutes, plus an expected sizeable chunk of added time, to find a winner

Another delightful Liverpool move, with Robertson picked out by a ball over the top. He nods back into the middle to Mac Allister, who doesn't get his connection right, with the ball ballooning wide of the near post

The defender meets a Robertson corner, but he is past the near post when heading thet ball high and wide

The defender picks up possession midway through the City half, strides past a defender and keeps going! Eventually he takes aim for the far bottom corner, but Ortega is equal to it

The substitute attempts to find the back of the net, but the shot takes a deflection off a defender, which reduces much of its pace, and Kelleher makes a simple save

For the first time since half-time, it feels like City are beginning to dictate some of the tempo. They've been able to dominate the ball a bit more and are forcing Liverpool back a touch

Nunez, not at his best today, is off, replaced by Cody Gakpo

Wow! A cross comes in from the City left, which Kelleher meets, but he punches it straight into Foden and the ball rebounds off the England international and on to the bar. He knew nothing about that!
