PSV Eindhoven issue 40-year stadium ban for fan who attacked Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic

A supporter who attacked Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic during a Europa League match has been banned from PSV Eindhoven's Philips Stadium for 40 years. The 20-year-old was already serving a national stadium ban but entered the ground using a ticket bought by a friend. He has also been given a three-month prison sentence and banned from the area around the Philips Stadium for two years.

PSV Eindhoven have banned a supporter from their stadium for 40 years after he attacked Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic during a Europa League match in February.
The fan, 20, made his way onto the pitch late in the game and punched Dmitrovic before being wrestled to the ground and then led away by stewards.
Earlier this month he was given a three-month prison sentence.
He was already serving a national stadium ban in the Netherlands so should not have been in the Philips Stadium, but used a ticket bought by a friend.
PSV have said in a statement: “In addition to the stadium ban of 40 years, PSV will start proceedings to recover any damage the club incurs from him.”
UEFA opened a disciplinary case against PSV following the incident and the club could be sanctioned or fined.
The fan has also been banned from the area around the Philips Stadium for two years.
Sevilla goalkeeper Dmitrovic only started the match at late notice after regular No. 1 Yassine Bounou felt ill.
"I never saw anything like it," Dmitrovic said afterwards.
"I'm not going to say what I really wanted to do [to the pitch invader]. I'm glad I was aware of where he was coming from and was able to stop him, otherwise other things could have happened.
“He wanted to hurt me. It's a shame that something like this happens in football field. UEFA should do something, this has to stop."
Six-time Europa League champions Sevilla will play Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the competition.
The first leg takes place on April 13.
Speaking about facing Sevilla, Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag said: "It is going to be tough, they are very experienced in the Europa League, won it so many times.
"I don’t know the team in detail but for me the most important is football and I don’t look forward to Sevilla. First, we have the international break and then three Premier League games so there is much time to focus on that so definitely so all the opponents are coming to this stage of the Europa League they are strong and you have to play your best football if you want to go through."
