Cagliari 1-3 AC Milan - Serie A result as Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fikayo Tomori and Noah Okafor earn the Rossoneri a comeback win in Sardinia

Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori were on target as AC Milan moved level on points with neighbours Inter at the Serie A summit following a fine 3-1 comeback success at winless Cagliari.

The England internationals struck either side of the break as Stefano Pioli’s side made it five wins from six league outings to completely banish the memory of their recent derby humbling.

The Rossoneri controlled the majority of the contest in Sardinia but fell behind just shy of the half hour when Zito Luvumbo thundered home a rising strike from the right side of the area.

Milan continued to press and turned the tide with a double blast inside six minutes at the very end of the half.

First, Noah Okafor snared his first goal for the club when he gobbled up a rebound after Boris Radunovic could only parry Christian Pulisic’s cross back into the danger zone.

Tomori then bundled in from close range after the Cagliari stopper made another meal of dealing with Tijani Reijnders’ cross. It was Tomori’s first goal for the club in 354 days.

The Chelsea connection continued following the restart as Loftus-Cheek made sure of the points on the hour mark with a rasping 25-yard strike that opened his Milan account in style.

The result sees Milan move level on points with leaders Inter, who can pull clear again if they avoid defeat against Sassuolo later on Wednesday evening. 

Milan will now switch focus to a tasty clash with Lazio on Saturday. 

Rock-bottom Cagliari visit Fiorentina on Monday still searching for that elusive first win back in the top-flight.

That humbling against Inter is looking more like a blip than something to be really concerned about.

Even with a much-changed side, Milan dominated and even showed great character to come from behind and win.

As for Cagliari, they finally got back on the scoresheet, but are now winless in six and are finding life back in Serie A very tough at present

But it just won't fall kindly and Milan will surely see this out without conceding again.

Luvumbo jogs back on so it's probably just cramp.

Hard to see Cagliari finding a way back in now. They have only scored two league goals all season and now they need to double that tally in five minutes just to earn a point!

Is it a hamstring or cramp?

Luvumbo needs treatment and limps to the touchline grimacing. That would be a major,major blow for the Sardinians if he were to be out for any length of time.

Hopefully it is just cramp. Cagliari currently down to 10 men.

Cagliari finally do threaten. Luvumbo is at the heart of it again but as he appears to pick up a bit of cramp, his cross drops for Oristanio who has a snap shot pushed away by Sportiello.

It would surely take a real lapse from the visitors to let this slip now.

Cagliari have rarely troubled them in this second period.

Whenever the forward is involved it usually spells danger for Milan and you can hear the sense of anticipation from supporters.

It doesn't pay off on this occasion though as his cross from the left byline is too deep for anyone in a Cagliari shirt.

The forward is hobbling a bit but any fears it could be a muscle issue look to have eased.

Leao heads off on a surge down the flank but ends up being upended. He is clutching his groin and needs treatment.
