REAL MADRID & VINICIUS HUMBLE BARCELONA
Real Madrid humiliated their arch-rivals Barcelona with a comprehensive 4-1 demolition of Xavi’s side in the Spanish Supercopa final, as Vinicius Junior hit a brutal first-half hat-trick against a hapless Catalan defence.
It marks Jude Bellingham’s first trophy in Madrid and he got the party started early with a sumptuous ball for Vinicius to chase after peeling off a crazy high Barcelona backline and easily rounding Inaki Pena to score.
Quite why Xavi set up such a high defensive line against the speedy front two of Vinicius and Rodrygo remains a mystery but the Brazilians took full advantage, sharing three more goals as Barcelona were totally outplayed.
Robert Lewandowski reduced the deficit to 2-1 with a superb volley from the edge of the area but the hope lasted just four minutes before Ronald Araujo, who was later sent off, brought Vinicius down in the area for a penalty that killed the game with five minutes left in the first half.
The only bright spark for Barcelona was Pedri’s long-awaited return from injury but they have the chance to bounce back as they remain in European, cup and league contention while Real Madrid received a La Liga boost without even playing as title rivals Girona dropped points earlier today.

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT
Barcelona need to be careful here. Lopez again follows through on a late challenge against Eduardo Camavinga and is lucky to escape a booking, his side are fraying and frazzling here.
In other news, Ancelotti has made his final changes.

MODRIC ON
This will be Modric's his 30th career trophy and 24th since joining Real Madrid in 2012. How many would he have won if he'd stayed at Tottenham all this time instead?

HAD TO SCORE!
Barcelona can at least restore some pride, and nearly do as Joao Felix finds space in the area but fires his shot straight at Lunin. Vinicius Jr did bring his shooting boots tonight though, he walks off for a standing ovation.

COULD'VE BEEN 5!
It's all-you-can-score right now and Brahim Diaz wants in on the action. He surges into the box but goes it alone rather than playing in Vinicius, and Pena was out quickly to snuff out the chance.

OLE! OLE!
This has been an absolute embarrassment for Barcelona and the Madrid fans are loving it. The Oles are out as Felix is luckily to escape unbooked after leaving his foot in on a challenge with Rudiger.

BAD TO WORSE FOR BARCA
HE'S OFF! Ronald Araujo has been terrorised all evening but he's headed for an early bath now with a frustrated hack at Vinicius.
The Brazilian had got to a 50-50 ball just in front but Araujo followed through his attempted clearance anyway and caught the back of the hat-trick hero's ankle for a blatant (second) yellow card. The predictable brawl then emerges but no more cards are dished out.

GOAL! REAL MADRID 4-1 BARCELONA (RODRYGO)
Rodrygo deserved that goal for his assist of Vinicius' second earlier, and he took it well when the chance came.
This time his strike partner was the one driving into the penalty area and though his shot-cross couldn't beat Kounde, his feeble clearance attempt fell straight to Rodygo who fired home with an unstoppable shot.

HUNGRY FOR MORE
Vinicius isn't content with three! He's again battling with Ronald Araujo but can't turn a shot goalwards, after Bellingham found him with a cheeky backheel that tells you how worried he is about a Barcelona comeback.

BARCA BENCH
Carlo Ancelotti turned the tide of this fixture with his substitutions as Real Madrid triumphed 2-1 in La Liga earlier this season, can Xavi do the same?
He's got Joao Felix, Vitor Roque, Lamine Yamal and Marc Guiu waiting in the wings but Los Blancos have plenty of firepower to come too...

ALMOST A FOURTH
That really would've been game over. Vinicius again found space behind the defensive line.
Unfortunately he just lost his footing as he cut into the penalty area and although he got up with the ball still at his feet, was quickly swamped by Barcelona shirts.

R&R?
How long will it be until Carlo Ancelotti starts thinking about resting players with the Copa del Rey Round of 16 and La Liga action coming up very soon?
