ALMOST 2-0
And straight from kickoff, Real Madrid are in again! The ball broke for Rodrygo on the edge of the box and Pena can only parry his fizzing shot back into the danger area but luckily it falls to a Barcelona defender.

GOAL! REAL MADRID 1-0 BARCELONA (VINICIUS)
Vinicius Junior got the goal but it was Jude Bellingham who was the real star, he received the ball from Tchouameni on the halfway line with three Barca players around him, but still manages to flick a low pass that completely splits the defence and allows the Brazilian to race clear.
From there he easily rounds Pena and Real Madrid are ahead!

SHOULD'VE SCORED!
The first proper chance of the game and Barcelona could've done a lot better. It was cute interplay with Ilkay Gundogan at the centre of it before the bal broke for Ferran Torres, who couldn't turn his close-range shot goalwards.

CAUTIOUS START
Real Madrid have controlled the ball early with Rodrygo making a slashing attempt on goal that never threatened Inaki Pena. However, it feels like both sides are just feeling each other out to begin...

KICKOFF
And after a brief delay, we're up and running in the final! Real Madrid kick off and Andriy Lunin gets an early touch of the ball.

PLAYERS ARE OUT
We're just moments away from getting underway now, with both sets of players out on the pitch.

FIVE MINUTES TO GO
A reminder of the team news as we sit just minutes away from kickoff in Saudi Arabia! Real Madrid have made two changes with Luka Modric (who was pivotal in Los Blancos' El Clasico victory earlier this season) and Kepa dropped to the bench in favour of Toni Kroos and Andriy Lunin.
For Barcelona, Pedri returns from injury and replaces Raphinha in the starting XI!
Real Madrid (4-3-1-2): Lunin, Carvajal, Rudiger, Nacho, Mendy, Valverde, Tchouameni, Kroos, Bellingham, Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr
Barcelona (4-3-3): Pena, Kounde, Araujo, Christensen, Balde, Roberto, Gundogan, De Jong, Pedri, Lewandowski, Torres

AROUND THE GROUNDS
If you're looking to avoid spoilers, look away now!
It was honours even across the Premier League today with Manchester United drawing with Tottenham and Aston Villa also held by Everton. Things have been more decisive in this weekend's round of La Liga matches though:
Sevilla 2-3 Alaves
Las Palmas 3-0 Villarreal
Mallorca 1-1 Celta Vigo
Athletic Bilbao 2-1 Real Sociedad
Real Betis 1-0 Granada
Almeria 0-0 Girona
Cadiz 1-4 Valencia

T-15 MINUTES
We're just a quarter of an hour away from kickoff in Riyadh, as the players go through their final preparations.
Real Madrid have already received a boost today with title rivals Girona pulling just one point ahead in La Liga thanks to a 0-0 draw with Almeria, but can they secure their first silverware of the year tonight or can Barcelona make a statement of intent with four trophies still a possibility this season.
18:40
WHAT IS THE SUPERCOPA DE ESPANA AND WHY ISN’T IT IN SPAIN?
Think an expanded Community Shield - the winners and runners up in La Liga and the Copa del Rey (or next-best teams) have been facing off in Riyadh this week and tonight's final is the culmination of that after both finalists have played just five games each in the past month.
The controversial move to host it in Saudi Arabia was announced in 2019 and comes down to one thing: money. With La Liga revenue falling further and further behind the Premier League, clubs are looking for any way to make up that shortfall and the Saudis are only too happy to pay.

LAST TIME OUT
These sides have already clashed once this season in La Liga - an entertaining affair at the Olympic Stadium that saw Jude Bellingham stamp his name into El Clasico folklore with a second-half brace including a 92nd-minute winner.
Barcelona went ahead just six minutes in through Ilkay Gundogan and controlled proceedings up to the hour mark, but Real Madrid’s bench really made the difference with Luka Modric and Eduardo Camavinga among the substitutes introduced.
Bellingham’s first goal signalled the tide turning so it will be interesting to see which team learned the most from that encounter.

30 MINUTES TO GO!
It's half an hour until kickoff, with both sides going through their preparations ahead of the first Spanish trophy of the year. So naturally, tonight's action comes live from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia! More on that later... but for now this really kicks off a busy second half of the 2023/24 season for both clubs.
Next week Barcelona and Real Madrid will aim to make the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey with the latter facing familiar foes in Atletico Madrid, and both of tonight's finalists are also in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Finally Barcelona trail their rivals by seven points in La Liga with Real Madrid fighting surprise package Girona for most of the season, but we could be set for an El Clasico title in that too! So tonight's clash could foreshadow much of the rest of Spanish season, who will be the victors?

PEDRI'S WELL-TIMED RETURN FOR BARCA
Xavi has been handed a huge boost as Pedri plays for the first time since mid-December and replaces Raphinha in the starting lineup.
18:20
KEPA DROPPED
Kepa was criticised for his performance in the Supercopa semi-final against Atletico Madrid, and Ancelotti has duly swung the axe - Ukranian Andriy Lunin starts with Thibaut Courtois' continued absence.
