Kane fakes a long throw so Chelsea pack the box, then finds Brittain, whose cross is deflected behind for a corner.

Barnsley have done extremely well so far. Chelsea have been poor.

Gilmour slides Hudson-Odoi in, inside Anderson, and he crosses to the back post where Pulisic is sliding in! But he can't control his shot and the ball goes wide.

Mowatt corsses really well - at the moment, he's having to aim for to high in the box - if his forward can push on, he can aim for the penalty spot - and Zouma has to side-kick ig if way.

This might be the longest I've ever seen Kepa go without doing something silly.

Barnsley have a really high line, which helping them deny Chelsea space. But both sides know that if one good ball meets one good run, and everything changes.

Woodrow does well, unable to go forward but managing to keep the ball, spreading left to Mowatt. Again, his cross is a goodun, but Zouma is up to head away. Barnsley are just having a period here.

Nice from Barnsley, switching the play well with Kane spreading to Mowatt, who flips a first-time cross to the back post, seeking Brittain again. But Alonso defends him well this time, conceding a corner that comes to nowt.

Hudson-Odoi breezes past Brittain, barely exerting himself. So Brittain brings him down, narrowly avoiding a booking.

Ziyech spreads a terrific ball out to Alonso - what a beautiful player he is. It was no surprise to anyone who saw him play for Ajax that Lampard's Chelsea were poor when he was injured and decent when he was fit. But Sibbick does well to see Pulisic away.

Christenson who falls in a challenge with Woodrow then goes for the ball while prostate, with he head - Phil Jones-style. Woodrow keeps ploughing forward, finds Chaplin, and he shoots wide.

Chelsea win a corner down the right, which Ziyech clips to Glimour on the edge. He sets for a shot, then misses the ball. It's not unfunny.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is not ironic.

Martin Keown notes that Marcos Alonso wasn't getting picked under Lampard but is back in favour now Tuchel is in, and even scored the other week. This, we're told, is ironic.

Kante spreads wide and Emerson slings in a cross, looking for Abraham who goes down in a challenge with Andersen. Again, he wants a penalty, but I'm sure there was nothing wrong with that one.

The pattern appears to be set, Chelsea controlling midfield then Barnsley whacking it forward to go from there.

Apparently Billy Beane - of Moneyball fame - is working with Barno at the moment, I did not know that.

Chelsea are just starting to assert themselves and Gilmour slides Abraham into the box. But just when he thinks he's about to score, Sibbick burrows in from the side and makes the challenge. Abraham wants a penalty but I'm sure he got the ball ... or did he? It really looked that way in real time, but looking again that was probably a foul.

Barnsley have been much the better side, but they need something to show for it because Chelsea will improve and have various players able to make something out of nothing.

Good touch from Abraham and then another, the first taking him down the line away from Styles and the second infield away from Andersen. But Sibbick nashes in from behind, poking the ball hard towards Collins, who makes the save. That might've gone very wrong.
