22:00 - Goodbye for now

That's it for tonight's transfer blog, but we'll review the papers later tonight on the site, and be back in the morning for a full day of further news and speculation.

21:00 - Allardyce keen on Josh King

'This is where I belong' - Man Utd confirm Sancho transfer
5 HOURS AGO
Sam Allardyce has suggested that he could be in the market for Josh King, if the Bournemouth striker is affordable.
"No idea what the price may be - if the price is within our range then I think we would be interested, and if it's out of our price range then we won't," Allardyce explained.
"It's a part of our process now to work tirelessly on outs and ins until the end of January. There's no point me beating about the bush - everybody knows what we need to do.
"We need to move players in this window, everybody does. We need to bring players in this window, everybody does.
"But no one more so than we do. We need players in more than anyone else in the Premier League to give us a chance of moving out of the position we're in."

19:40 - Austin back at QPR

18:30 - Sokratis could join Genoa

Arsenal may be seeing more than just the back of Mesut Ozil this window.

17:30 - Benkovic back to Celtic?

Celtic's assistant manager John Kennedy has said that the club will look at bringing Filip Benkovic back to the club in January.
The Scottish champions have an injury to Christopher Julien which will leave them short in the middle of defence, and Benkovic is struggling to break past Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu as Brendan Rodger's first choice.
Kennedy said: "It’s probably a position now, with Christopher Jullien being injured, that we have to look at. We are a bit short in that area now.
"Filip is one who we are very well aware of and have spoken about. We know what he is capable of, and he’s a guy who has been here and knows what it’s about. So he is certainly on a shortlist of options to strengthen the centre-back position.”

17:00 - Hasenhuttl on Chelsea shortlist

This isn't strictly transfer news, but could still see significant activity in the Premier League - Ralph Hasenhuttl is included on Chelsea's shortlist of potential replacements for Frank Lampard.
The Daily Mail claims the Southampton boss is included on the Blues' provisional list of managerial targets with Lampard currently under intense pressure following four defeats in six games.

RB Leipzig's Julian Nagelsmann is also on the shortlist along with Max Allegri, Thomas Tuchel and Ralf Rangnick, although Lampard will be given more time to turn things around.
Hasenhuttl at Stamford Bridge would be an interesting proposition. There's no doubting the good job he has done at Southampton, but would he be able to make the step up? And would Chelsea have branded gloves for him?

16:45 - Ozil to Fenerbahce confirmation?

The Twitter account of the OneUnity skincare brand co-owned by Mesut Ozil has announced the German playmaker will complete a move to Fenerbahce.
Ozil, who was left out of Arsenal's Europa League and Premier League squad this season, was widely reported to be in talks with the Turkish club.
The OneUnity handle is in Ozil's personal Twitter bio and is linked from the brand's official website. Their announcement would appear to carry some weight. We await an announcement from Arsenal and Fenerbahce...

16:20 - Torreira could swap Atleti for Fiorentina

Fiorentina are keen to take Lucas Torreira on loan for the second half of the season with the Arsenal midfielder struggling to make much of an impression at Atletico Madrid.
Torreira joined the Spanish club on loan in the summer window, but has been a peripheral figure for Diego Simeone's side, leading to reports Arsenal could cut short his stay at Atleti.
La Nazione (via Mundo Deportivo) reports Fiorentina have already made contact with the Gunners to take over Torreira's loan for the second half of the season.

15:55 - Chelsea want Upamecano

Chelsea have joined the race to sign Dayot Upamecano with the RB Leipzig centre back also attracting interest from a number of Barcelona Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
The Daily Mail reports Chelsea have now entered the pursuit, with the Blues expressing an interest in activating the £40 million release clause in Upamecano’s RB Leipzig contract this summer.

Upamecano is widely regarded one of the best defenders in the game and so Chelsea will face some stiff competition to convince him Stamford Bridge is the best place for him to take the next step.
There's no doubt Upamecano would improve Frank Lampard's squad, but would the Frenchman want to play for the former midfielder when the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Zinedine Zidane reportedly want him?

15:25 - Everton set price for Kean transfer

Moise Kean has got his career back on track on loan at Paris Saint-Germain this season and so it's unsurprising the French champions are eager to keep the young forward.
French newspaper Le Parisien (via Fichajes) reports PSG have already made contact with Everton about making Kean's stay at the Parc des Princes a permanent one.
The Toffees have made clear they want to recoup the €35 million they paid Juventus for Kean two years ago. PSG will have to find this sort of cash to keep the Italian beyond the summer.
Mauricio Pochettino will surely be given some freedom to mould his squad as he desires over the next two transfer windows. Is Kean a player who will thrive under the Argentine? I suppose 'Kean' looks a bit like 'Kane'...

15:10 - Odegaard to go back out on loan?

Martin Odegaard could leave Real Madrid on loan for the second half of the season with the Norwegian midfielder struggling for game time at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 22-year-old has only played nine games for Real Madrid this season, leading TuttoMercato (via Fichajes.com) to report Odegaard could go out on loan again.

Odegaard was one of the best players in La Liga last season for Real Sociedad with Zinedine Zidane recalling the midfielder early from his two-year loan period at the Anoeta.
The problem for Odegaard is that there isn't really a role for a player in his mould in Zidane's system. He will have to adapt his game and he hasn't managed to do that so far.

14:45 - Williams wants Newcastle loan move

Brendon Williams is a target for Newcastle United and the Manchester United full back wants to make the loan switch to St James' Park this month.
The Chronicle claims Newcastle United have made enquiries about Wiliams with Southampton also believed to be interested in the young defender.
It's reported Williams would be open to the idea of leaving United on loan, but only wants to sign for a Premier League club if he is to depart Old Trafford this month.
Williams is a talented young player who needs game time to grow. He isn't currently getting that Manchester United and so it would make sense for him to go out on loan.
But given United's desperate need for an attacking right back, why hasn't Williams been used on the right side by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season?

14:25 - Could Ramos really leave?

The story around Sergio Ramos' future at Real Madrid is dominating the Spanish football agenda at the moment with the 34-year-old out of contract at the end of the season.
Graham Ruthven (that's me!) has taken a look at whether or not Ramos is really looking to leave the Santiago Bernabeu. What are his options?
Of course, Ramos has previously threatened to leave Real Madrid only to sign a new contract. Remember how he used Manchester United back in 2015? Is that what's happening again here?

13:35 - North London rivals to fight for Sabitzer

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are set to fight for the signing of Marcel Sabitzer, with the RB Leipzig attacker on the radar of both North London rivals.
Today's Euro Papers covers the story which suggests Sabitzer will be the subject of a transfer market tug-of-war between two clubs who would certainly be improved by the arrival of the Austrian.
The 26-year-old has been in exceptional form this season and is a very intelligent player in terms of his movement and positional awareness. Arsenal in particular could do with someone like Sabitzer.

13:10 - Hertha Berlin looking for Guendouzi replacement

Matteo Guendouzi has enjoyed a successful season so far on loan at Hertha Berlin, but the Frenchman is unlikely so stay at the Bundesliga club permanently.
BILD report Hertha Berlin recognise it will be difficult to keep Guendouzi beyond the summer and have already started identifying replacements for the on-loan Arsenal man.
Wolfsburg's Yannick Gerhardt is seen as a potential target for Hertha Berlin. But if they are moving on from Guendouzi, what does that mean for the Frenchman? Is there any way back for him at the Emirates Stadium?

12:35 - Snodgrass up for the fight

West Brom confirmed the signing of Robert Snodgrass on Friday and the Scoltland international has been speaking about what he wants from his time at the Hawthorns.
“I’m up for the fight, I’m up for the challenge,” he told Sky Sports News. “I know it’s going to be a tough ask in terms of getting points on the board from the position we are in, but I firmly believe we have the players to do it.
“The lads are looking for that win to try and kick on, I firmly believe that, and we have some great talent in there. Hopefully I’m the piece of the puzzle that helps the lads get points on the board.”
Snodgrass has the potential to be a creative spark for West Brom. He might be 33 and into the twilight of his career, but the Scot is still very fit. Sam Allardyce might be able to get the most out of him.

12:05 - Arsenal face competition for Buendia

Arsenal have been linked with a January move for Emi Buendia, but the Gunners could face competition for the signing of the Norwich City midfielder this month.
La Razon (via Sport Witness) claim Valencia see Buendia as a potential alternative to Harry Winks who is also believed to be on the radar of the Spanish club.
Buendia knows La Liga well having previously played for Getafe and he is a player Valencia are familiar with having explored the possibility of signing him before.
Winks and Buendia are very different players, though. They offer very different things. Does Valencia head coach Javi Gracia really know what he's looking for?

11:20 - West Brom sign ex-Liverpool goalkeeper

West Brom have signed former Liverpool goalkeeper Andy Lonergan on a short-term contract until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Lonergan was part of the Liverpool squad that won the Premier League title last season, but failed to make a single appearance for the Anfield club.
The 37-year-old signed a short term deal with Stoke City after leaving Merseyside and will now act as deputy to Sam Johnstone at the Hawthorns. English football's greatest cheerleader since David May has a new club!

11:05 - Zidane opens up on Ramos' future

Zinedine Zidane has spoken about Sergio Ramos' future at Real Madrid amid continued speculation surrounding contract talks between the veteran defender and the Spanish champions.
Ramos is out of contract at the end of the season and recent reports have cast doubt on whether the 34-year-old will put pen to paper on a new deal.
Of course, this isn't the first time Ramos has been reportedly close to leaving the Santiago Bernabeu, so how much should we read into the current situation? Is this just more negotiation from the defender and his representatives? Or could he really leave?

10:50 - Valencia preparing improved offer for Winks

Tottenham Hotspur have already rejected one loan offer from Valencia for Harry Winks, but the Spanish club are reportedly preparing an improved offer for the England midfielder.
The Daily Mail reports Javi Gracia is a big fan of Winks, who has fallen down the pecking order in North London this season, from his time as a Premier League manager.

Winks is reportedly open to a loan switch to La Liga for the second half of the season as he is anxious about earning his place in the England squad for the summer's European Championships.
Mestalla would be a difficult environment for Winks. Valencia is a club in turmoil both on and off the pitch at the moment. Nonetheless, some game time could benefit the 24-year-old.

10:25 - Spurs could make move for Militao

Eder Militao is on Tottenham Hotspur's radar with Jose Mourinho reportedly keen on bringing the out-of-favour Real Madrid centre back to the North London club.
Spanish sports newspaper AS claims Real Madrid could be open to letting Militao, who has barely featured for the Spanish champions this season, go, but only for a fee close to what they paid for him - £43 million.
Zinedine Zidane has lost faith in Militao in recent weeks, with Nacho now above the Brazilian defender in the pecking order. It seems entirely plausible that might be on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu shortly.
There is a player of some potential in there. Mourinho would have a job on his hands to restore Militao's confidence, though.

10:00 - Brighton make bid for United target

Brighton have made a £4.5 million offer for Moises Caicedo despite the Ecuadorian midfielder being strongly linked with a January move to Manchester United.
The teenager is believed to be on the radar of the Old Trafford club, but according to the Daily Mail it's the Seagulls who are pushing to strike an agreement with the teenager's club, Independiente del Valle.
Chelsea, Everton, Newcastle United and West Ham are also reportedly in the chase to sign Caicedo who has become a staple of the transfer gossip column in recent weeks.
At United, the 19-year-old would likely struggle for game time. At Brighton, though, he would get to work under a manager, Graham Potter, who favours a very technical style of football.
Caidedo might end up in the Championship for next season if he moves to the Amex, but think of all the possession stats!

09:40 - Milik wanted by 'best Premier League clubs'

Arkadiusz Milik is wanted by the "best Premier League clubs" according to his agent with the Polish striker set to be out of contract at Napoli at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old has been consistently linked with a move to England, with Tottenham Hotspur among those reportedly interested in the Polish forrward, and agent Fabrizio De Vecchi has now opened up on his client's future.
"The best clubs in the Premier League, Atletico and Marseille are interested in Arek," he said (as per The Sun).

"Of course, no team offers what Napoli asks for."
"Roma and Juve were also close to signing him, but for different reasons, and in some cases still difficult to understand, the negotiation did not work out.
"But this often happens in football. If they come back to him? I don't rule it out, but I can't be the one to say it."

09:25 - Dembele 'very close' to Atletico Madrid

Remember Moussa Dembele? The Lyon striker who has been linked with pretty much every Premier League club at one point or another over the last two years and scored a goal against City in the Champions League last season?
Well, it now appears he is on the brink of making a move to Atletico Madrid with Marca claiming the Frenchman is "very close" to joining the Spanish club.
This comes after Atleti allowed Diego Costa to leave the club as a free agent. Dembele seems like quite an upgrade on football's biggest pantomime villain. He's more focused on scoring goals rather than pulling your hair or insulting your family.

WELCOME!

Why not welcome in this Saturday morning with a review of the newspapers? Where we are told Arsenal and Tottenham will have to wait if they want to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer. Everton are ready to sell Moise Kean to Paris Saint-Germain if their asking price is met, and Alvaro Odriozola may leave Real Madrid in pursuit of a new opportunity.
