On a quiet transfer deadline day, Fulham made a move with the signing of Chelsea striker Armando Broja, who has joined Marco Silva's side on loan until the end of the season. The Albania international, who has scored twice in 19 appearances for the Blues this season, had also attracted the interest of Wolves and West Ham. Speaking to the club, he said he "can't wait to get started".
Fulham's new striker Armando Broja says he "can't wait to get started" after joining from Chelsea on a loan until the end of the season.
Marco Silva’s side had been eager to sign a forward throughout the January transfer window and on transfer deadline day, they have finally sealed the deal.
The 22-year-old has scored twice in 19 appearances for the Blues this season and had also attracted the interest of Wolves and West Ham.
"It feels amazing. I'm really happy to be here and I can't wait to get started, meet the players and manager and play for the fans," said Broja.
"The fans always play a big role and I can't wait to go to Craven Cottage and meet them all. I'm going to work hard for the team and create a real bond. I'm really honoured and excited to be here."
Broja will bolster Fulham’s attack following the injury of Raul Jimenez, who was forced off at half-time in the goalless draw with Everton on Tuesday with a suspected hamstring strain.
The Cottagers will hope Broja, who is an Albania international, can replicate his form shown at Southampton in the 2021/22 season, when he scored six times in 32 Premier League appearances.
"I think it's a very good thing for him to have the opportunity to play maybe more and of course I think it's a good move for him," said Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.
"I hope that he can take the opportunity to play more."
Broja came through the Blues’ youth academy, spending a season on loan at Eredivisie side Vitesse in the 2020/21 campaign, where he netted 10 goals in 30 games.
