West Ham are in talks for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips but they may face competition from Juventus and others, while Bayern Munich may face rejection in their pursuit of Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier. Elsewhere, Nuno Tavares could return to Marseille on loan from Arsenal, and AC Milan striker Divock Origi could be loaned to Major League Soccer.

West Ham lead chase for Phillips
West Ham have opened negotiations with Manchester City for their midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Juventus have also expressed interest, writes the Independent.
The paper states: “West Ham are in talks with Manchester City about taking Kalvin Phillips on loan for the rest of the season.
“The Hammers have joined a host of other clubs who are exploring the possibilities of a move for the England midfielder.
“Phillips is also a target for Newcastle United, who have suffered from a host of injuries to midfielders, as well as having Sandro Tonali banned for 10 months for gambling on matches during his time with AC Milan.
“Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has admitted he would like to bring Phillips to Selhurst Park as he looks for a replacement for the injured Cheick Doucoure.
“Juventus have also held discussions with City about the 28-year-old, though the end of a tax break which had helped Serie A clubs take foreigners to Italy would make it more expensive for them than it had been to sign the midfielder.”
Newcastle want to keep Trippier
Bayern Munich are interested in signing Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier, but Newcastle do not want to sell.
The Premier League side regard him as an important part of the first team.
“Newcastle United will resist any approach from Bayern Munich for defender Kieran Trippier,” the Daily Mail reports.
“Sources have told Mail Sport that the vice-captain will be going nowhere this month, despite reports of interest from the German champions.
“There has, as of now, been no contact between the clubs and the idea of Trippier leaving on loan has been dismissed outright.
“Newcastle chief executive Darren Eales did say this month that, in a world of financial fair play, every player has their price, although we are told there is no appetite to sell Trippier this window.
“The England star, 33, is central to Eddie Howe’s plans and is seen as an invaluable member of the squad.“
Marseille want Tavares
Despite a poor end to his first loan spell at Marseille from Arsenal, the French side are keen on bringing Nuno Tavares back to France for another loan.
The left-back is under consideration at the Stade Velodrome, according to The Sun.
“Marseille are reportedly considering a swoop for out-of-favour Arsenal full-back Nuno Tavares,” the paper explains.
“The 23-year-old made 39 appearances for the Ligue 1 side during his loan spell last season.
“Despite his strong start at the Stade Velodrome, Tavares fell down the pecking order under Igor Tudor.
“He was kicked out of a training session at the end of the campaign for an alleged lack of effort and returned to Arsenal in the summer.
“But despite the misdemeanour, Marseille officials want him to return.”
Origi offered to MLS sides
Nottingham Forest's on-loan striker Divock Origi could be moved on to an MLS side in January.
His parent club are ready to let him leave for North America as Origi has struggled to score in the Premier League this season.
"Ex-Liverpool star Divock Origi is being eyed by three Major League Soccer clubs after struggling to find form at Nottingham Forest, while on loan from AC Milan," the Mirror writes.
"The forward has failed to find the back of the net since his return to the Premier League, with another move potentially on the cards for the Belgian international.
"Despite only starting two of nine games at the City Ground, a move to the US could be just what he needs to reignite his career. His time at Nottingham Forest has been a stark contrast to his glory days at Liverpool, where he became a bona fide club legend over eight years at the club.
"The striker had a knack for scoring crucial goals while in Merseyside, becoming a true fan favourite on Anfield's famous Kop. Among his memorable moments for The Reds are a last-minute goal against local rivals Everton, and key late strikes against Newcastle United and Wolves."
