It's very difficult to nail down exactly what Olmo's position is in this Spain side, but the RB Leipzig man is proving to be very effective in this first half. Drifting all over the place.

The first yellow card of the evening is shown to Schar for a foul on Torres.

The transformation of Navas into one of the best right backs in Europe right now has been astonishing. What a career he has enjoyed over the years and he shows no sign of slowing.

Sommer stops a second! The Switzerland goalkeeper makes amends for his blunder for the opening goal, saving from Torres when the Manchester City attacker should have scored with a header from a Navas cross.

Spain have been training at Real Madrid's training complex this week so they didn't have much to travel to get to the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano this evening (just across the car park).

Seferovic is having to come exceptionally deep to make himself an option, but the problem with that is Switzerland then don't have an outlet to lead the line and relieve pressure.

Ramos embarks on his first attacking run of the match from deep, playing a one-two with Oyarzabal as he attempted to break through the Switzerland defence, but the tackle is made.

Switzerland are simply giving the ball away too easily. That cost them the opening goal and they are also giving it up too cheaply in the centre of the pitch as well. Needs to be much better.

That's too deep from Gaya. The Valencia left back had a good chance to pick out a teammate with his delivery, but the ball was far too strong to find anyone in a red shirt.

Merino deserves a lot of credit for recognising the pass out from Sommer was loose. He was right on top of the Swiss defence to win possession before Oyarzabal tucked away the finish.

It's been a solid start to this match from Spain. They are seeing more of the ball and the intensity of their pressing has been very impressive. Spain are right on top of Switzerland.

There are clear benefits to playing out from the back, but the problem comes when you play a team that presses as high as Spain. Switzerland have to learn their lesson from the goal.

There was a half-hearted penalty claim before the Spain opener, with Ansu going down under the challenge from Widmer, but the officials decided there wasn't much in the incident.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Spain 1 (14 mins - Mikel Oyarzabal) Switzerland 0. Switzerland shoot themselves in the foot and Spain take the lead! Sommer's short pass out from the back presents the hosts with a chance inside the penalty box, with Merino winning it and Oyarzabal firing past the Swiss goalkeeper on the turn!

The wing backs are so crucial to the way Switzerland play. There is plenty space in behind Gaya and Nava for Widmer and Benito to exploit and that's what they are doing.

Good save from De Gea! That could have been the opener for Switzerland! Benito was up from the back and got on the end of a cross to the back post, but his low shot is saved by De Gea!

De Gea is back in goal for Spain this evening. He has reclaimed his position for the national team after losing it to Kepa last year. Kepa did play against Portugal last time out, though.
