What a performance from Spain. They will likely finish top of their group now, securing their passage to the 2018 World Cup. More than that, though, they have laid down a marker. This was supremely impressive from them. It finished 3-0, but it could feasibly have been 5-0 or 6-0.

Here comes Villa, with Isco getting a massive standing ovation as he comes off.

MORATA GOAL IS CHALKED OFF! The ball into the Italy penalty area was superb from Silva, with Morata heading home, but the Chelsea striker was flagged for offside. Close one.

INSIGNE STRIKE! Well, that was some effort from the Italian midfielder, but De Gea was alert to it, making the diving save and holding on to the ball in the process as wel.

Looks like Villa will be getting a few minutes at the end of this match. The New York City FC striker has been called back to the bench. The Bernabeu crowd has noticed.

Spain are now toying with Italy. The Azzurri just cannot get close to them, with the hosts pinging the passes around. This has been quite a humbling for the visitors to the Bernabeu.

Of course, as we mentioned earlier this evening, these two teams were unbeaten in their group heading into this game. This result will almost certainly decide who finishes top.

Italy make a change but it doesn't really matter at this point. They just want the final whistle.

RAMOS LASHES OVER! Pique and Ramos are the two furthest forward players as the ball comes bouncing into the Italy box, but the latter lashes his shot high and wide of the goal.

Asensio comes off and the home fans give him the sort of ovation the youngster is getting used to.

Villa goes for a run down the touchline to warm up and the Bernabeu chants his name. Will they get to see the veteran striker on the pitch in a Spain shirt one last time? Will he get on?

This has been incredible from Spain. They have been in control from start to finish and the scoreline now reflects that. This has been a real demonstration of strength from the hosts.

So Spain finally have a recognised striker on the pitch. Not that it held them back before. They coped rather well playing Asensio as a false nine. Now, Morata will give them a focal point.
