Klose did indeed go to ground pretty easily, and threw in a few rolls on the ground.

Cabaye clumps into Klose over the halfway line, and is lucky not to get booked.

Valbuena trips Kroos in midfield, and so Germany continue their possession.

Pogba's low cross is blocked but picked up by Cabaye. He attempts to break into the box, but can't keep the ball in play and it's shepherded out for a goal kick.

GOAL! France 0-1 Germany. Hummels scores. Kroos has a free kick on the left, which floats to the centre of the penalty box, and Hummels flicks it on against the crossbar, and into the goal past Lloris's dive. Don't understand this tweet, though.

Valbuena cuts in from the right and Khedira hoofs his foot through the bal, but France come back. Griezmann gets to a ball over the top behind the defence, but his squared ball is cut out before it reaches Benzema.

The first chance of the match. Valbuena chips the ball from the byline towards Benzema, and he drags a volley just wide of goal.

Still Germany, and now Muller is tripped on the right wing by Patrice Evra.

Germany now starting to dominate possession, but that shouldn't worry France - their strength is on the counter-attack, as they showed against Switzerland.

Liam Coleman has his finger on the pulse of the nation. Germany are pressing down the left.

Nothing much happening for the start of the match. France sitting deep at the moment, and Germany not exactly blessed with verve..

More Reda! This time about something that isn't football, which probably makes a nice change now we're so far into the World Cup.

Here's a preview of the last eight teams in the World Cup.

Joachim Loew (Germany): "You can't always play fantastic football at a World Cup. You've just got to leave the field triumphant, and that's what we did. We have worked hard, both during the preparation in South Tyrol and here in Brazil, and realised what we must improve. It's only normal that you keep on learning throughout a tournament, and this also helps you recognise your team's finesse."

Didier Deschamps (France): "It doesn't serve any purpose to look any further ahead. The reality now is Germany on Friday. Everyone can dream, including me, but I'm a pragmatist and a realist, Friday is the only thing that counts. We're going there to give it everything we've got. We haven't made a mess of our World Cup. I'm very proud and the players deserve it, it's a huge pleasure for me and my staff to be involved on a daily basis with them and to manage them, to be with them. But we're not going there as tourists on Friday."
