WHAT A MISS... FLAG UP! Sterling stopped as he was played in, he thought he was offside. The flag stayed down, his shot was straight at Olsen... then the flag went up. His blushes are spared.

STERLING NEARLY IN! Oh, he was so close to being in! The weight on the ball from Trippier to Sterling was magnificent, but Lindelof did just enough to scramble the danger away.

For the first time, Forsberg gets on the ball in a dangerous position for Sweden. He was looking for the run of Berg inside the box, but Pickford's shout sees him claim it with authority.

STERLING CROSS! The Manchester City winger ran down the left channel to get on the end of a threaded pass and cross to the near post. It as half blocked, with Lingard's little backheel flick inside the box also blocked.

Alli has struggled to get into the game in this first half. There was a suggestion before the match that he toiling with an injury and what we have seen from him so far backs that up.

Make no mistake, this has been a low quality game in this first half. Neither Sweden nor England have taken a grip of things. But it's England who have the lead, so they won't care too much.

The crossing into the England penalty area from Sweden has been really poor. Krafth had the chance to cause a problem with a ball in there, but it was way, way too strong.

Sweden have the chance to get a freekick into the box from deep, but the delivery was poor and Maguire is there to clear. The Leicester City man is getting is head to everything!

While this has been far from an inspired start by England, Sweden have caused them no problems at all. Pickford hasn't had a save to make yet. Southgate must be pleased with that.

Set pieces have been key for England at this World Cup. They look so organised from freekicks and corner kicks, but this is also a strength of this Sweden side, so beware.

They have been far from their best, but England have the lead through Maguire. He has been one of England's more impressive players at this World Cup. What a header that was.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Sweden 0 England 1 (31 mins - Harry Maguire) England have taken the lead! What a header from Maguire! He powered in there and got on the end of a corner kick delivery to smash a header past Olsen in the Sweden goal! What a huge goal for the Three Lions.

England are using Trippier as often as they can down the right side, which isn't the worst idea, but so far the wing back has failed to find his best delivery. That one was too strong.

Now Sweden are knocking the ball around in their own half, with England sitting back. Is this a tactic from Southgate and his players to try and open up some space on the counter?

BERG IS OFFSIDE! Oh! England got away with one there. Maguire was beaten by a long ball over the top, with Berg getting in behind. The flag was up for offside, but he was in his own half!

TRIPPIER CROSS! This is a bit better from England, partiuclarly down the right side of the pitch. Trippier gets the cross into the near post, but Olsen gathers. Kane was waiting for it.
