FIFA World Cup 2022: Belgium 0-2 Morocco Live - Morocco put on a great showing to produce another upset result

Morocco happy to sit in and let Belgium have the ball, relying on counter attacking opportunities, of which they've had a few early on.

Belgium creating good chances now, ball bundles over to Meunier, his shot, while on target, doesn't trouble Munir.

This time on the left hand side of the pitch. Belgium attempted a clever tactic to set De Bruyne up for the shot. But he can't get it past the group of players in white. Belgium continue to control the game.

Plenty of turnovers, and opportunities on the transition. Morocco looking the more lively so far but Belgium now starting to contain the ball better.

On the transition, the two Hazard brothers work it well to get into Batshuayi, whose first time shoot is saved by Munir, and out for a corner.

Second time now Belgium have lost the ball in the middle of the pitch, Morocco weren't able to get much out of it but have done well to force mistakes early on.

Despite doing themselves proud against Croatia, Morocco still missed out on a first win at the World Cup finals since 1998. Though it has to be said, this is only their second World Cup tournament since then, 2018 being the first.

The side lead by manager Walid Regragui will hope the likes of Ziyech and Hakimi can be the difference makers, as they seek to qualify out of this tightly contested group F.

The Belgian Red Devils' 'golden generation' are in what is likely to be their last hurrah at a chance of World cup gold with De Bruyne, Lukaku, and Hazard all entering the latter years of their careers.

Against Canada, their first game of this tournament, they were underwhelming and second best in most departments. Nonetheless, an Alphonso Davies penalty miss and a Michy Batshuayi goal on the stroke of half time means a win today against their North African counterparts means they'll qualify to the next stage.

Roberto Martinez has provided a surprising update on Romelu Lukaku’s fitness ahead of today’s game.

“Medically Romelu was only available for the third game, but he's ahead of where he should be and the signs are very good,” he said.

“I don't expect him to be involved on Sunday unless something very good happens today [Saturday].”

Should Belgium qualify out of their group, Lukaku looks set to be ready for the knockout stages.
